What watch do you wear?

And here it is:

NOMOS Ahoi Atlantik.

Immediate observations are that the strap is not the Perlon one that the stock product images and earlier production pieces have had, this is full canvas material that feels very much like the ones found on the Omega SMP/Speedy and Tudor Black Bay. Certainly a welcome surprise.

It doesn't look like a pure dress watch in person. It looks more like a casual daily, that could easily work as a dress watch. Hard to describe.

The wooden box that came with it was unexpected, everything online points to a leather zip pouch.

The glass is slightly domed, and the AR coating creates a blue hue on reflected objects under strong lighting which looks pretty cool indeed.

The hands are rose gold with green Superluminova. The lume is bright on the hands, but the dial indexes that are lumed are rather tiny.

The top to bottom lug to lug length is slightly longer than that of the Pelagos!

I like both! They have their own things about them for sure. Maybe I'll keep both. The Pelagos has something special in that it's no longer in production, and the 25500TN was not widely available globally either.

Anyone in Basel today @Rikki maybe, get on uber and just go somewhere... swipe right and you get a free ride in a Zenith sponsored classic car. They have old rolls royces, mercs, jags etc. all driving you about for free. I want to take one but have no where to go lol

DAMN!

I never logged on while I was over :(

Had fun though :)

Great choice! I went for the same a year or so ago. I've since bought the NOMOS black leather strap for it, to make it a little more "dressy"

The salesman tried to talk me into the datum version but I actually think the date number at the bottom ruins the face (plus saves a few hundred quid).

Sorry mrk...that doesn't get my vote :o

Whilst it is a lovely watch I looked up the RRP and for that money I'd expect a metal bracelet.

But hey, it's horses for courses. As long as you're happy with it :)

I was looking on chrono24 last night for the longines I want...€2200-€2400...one day!

The NOMOS has actually going up ~£500 since brexit :(

I mentioned here before how much I don't really like date windows on watches, it's not needed IMO, and often ruins the otherwise style of the dial. Plus it saves a few hundred quid :)

I will be exploring NATO/one piece strap options, likely the ZuluDiver range from Watchgecko and a Maratac from WestCoastTime. The lugs have holes at the ends so there's no faff involved with getting the springbars out on this. The standard strap is very comfortable though, but I'm fully into the one piece straps now having worn them for years.

It's cool, I know Nomos is a small brand doing their own thing, but popularity appears to be growing for them, especially the sinature designs they have, and the in-house Epsilon movement.

A colleague said it looked very understated. I think that's the perfect word to describe it. The way the rose gold hands shimmer under office lighting while I'm typing away at the desk, and the blue tint from the AR... Just can't help but stare at it.

Sell you mine in a couple of years? Mate's rate should still see strong value? :p
