Thanks for the info guys, so the steering rack has been out and replaced, DISA rebuilt yes (I assume this is refurbished rather than new) and I remember him mentioning some bushes being replaced, but I may well budget for polybushing it at some point

If I was upgrading my convertible I'd definitely want one with an air scarf so that I can get the roof down even in mid-winter, but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me as I doubt it's a commonly added option. Having said that, I've not tried one with this feature so have no idea how effective it is.
Kind of my thinking, more that is it the deal breaker or not - hoping someone has tried one for an extended period of time rather than a little test drive, hard to tell from that if it's worth it or not.
4 series Vert - airscarf, worth holding out for one that has this or really not so important? Thoughts?

Very good feature and i wouldnt buy another Mercedes convertible without it (i have one with, and one without). I am sure the BMW version is much the same.

Back in the 7 now after a couple weeks in a borrowed '99 1.8 turbo gti haha now to find another car to part ex this 7 with, although WBAC offering 3k so still get something back either way. Thanks again A whole engine supplied and swapped for £1600 sounds a very good deal, good going. It shows there isn't really much to be scared about with just about any "mature" car really. So they didn't need to change the diff or replace the turbo! 
Ended up just being a wheelbearing and the turbo is completely normal apparently. God knows how he's gone from "its knackered, surprised you've not had more issues", to that noise is ok. I drove another 530d to put my mind at rest and it is the same on that car too so maybe it's all in my head, but worrying that their most senior mechanic gave that verdict in the first place

Seen the new G30 a couple of times now, such a handsome thing when you actually see it in the flesh, its really grown on me. Still got a naff, pointy arse though, like the new 7.
Also, something ive always wondered but never bothered to ask... on the F10 can you set the temperatures to match whatever the drivers is set to? This is a standard feature on every audi ive owned but not the BMW.

PM me some details / pics before you sell it to WBAC. If you choose to sell it to WBAC you'll probably end up with less than £3k as they tend to come round and knock money off for dents / marks etc.

So this evening I've been looking at Approved used BMW 4 series'. The 430i above looks bloody mean, and I love it. The main difference is simply the kidney grills being black rather than silver, but is there a difference between the lights too? It looks like the 430i might have the LED Light package? Just looking for clarification

Lights look identical to me and it says they're Xenon on both. The black grilles and other little pieces are only cosmetic (I think it was a response to the Audi black on black black pack stuff?), also different options between them, thankfully both Pro Nav, but the biggest difference between those two is the engine. The 435i is a 3 litre inline 6, the 430i is a 2 litre inline 4, which used to be known as the 428i before the latest change to the numbering.
