BMW and M Power Owners

Business has a silly little squashed screen, professional gains a hard drive, better screen Resolution, proper split screen view, better graphics.

Ok, so whilst it's clearly not as good looking as Pro Nav, it's still got similar basic functionality (excluding hard drive storage) including map updates etc? Still sounds worth having over the horrid non Nav console

That's a fair point, more about finding a balance than anything else. I'm not particularly desperately looking for one in all honesty but seen a car that perked some interest.

2010 330D n57 touring with under 60k, xenons and some options like high beam assist but it has business nav and weirdly a manual box.

Just having a think about it really, it's still a decent looking car and feels a fair price (albeit tourings in general can be a bit wild). I would much rather an f10 even if it was an early 525d but there just doesn't seem to be any real availability

Budget?

This car is £11k - i would find it very, very difficult to spend more on an e91 but could go to around £14k for a newer generation car with a decent engine.

Just doesn't seem like there is anything worth considering - which is also fine

If i was spending 11k on an E91 I'd want it to be the most amazing E91 in the universe.

I'd also be strongly considering an early F11 instead for a bit more. Potentially a liability but probably not more so than an old E91 already is. And at least it won't feel like a car from a previous decade inside..

Test drove a 440i today. Auto, pro nav, harmon kardon, heated seats, a few others which i forget. I couldn't stop smiling which is obviously :D But now I'll be looking at BM's every opportunity i get :p :(

To add insult to injury, my cheap as chips to run Ford Focus is growing mushrooms in the boot. It's had a leak for a while and i think the last few days of warm weather has caused it. I'm trying so hard to stick up for that car, but..mushrooms?:eek::eek::eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: Eughhh

Viewing a Z4 this weekend, anything in particular to look out for?

Had a new hood motor a couple of years ago and relocated, VANOS and DISA rebuilt and new springs all round 3 years ago, this seems to cover all the most common issues?

Its a 3.0i with the M54 engine

third rear brake lights crack every time you slam the boot down.

if it's cracked your looking at £80ish for a new one with new springs and screws.

the trick is to screw it in loosely too tight and the tension of the springs causes them to crack. so don't screw them in thinking this will make it hold. screw them in lightly to stop them from snapping basically from the tension of the screws/springs

electrical steering fails are common now and they are around £1500-£3000 for a repair depending on where you get it done.

I wouldn't say that they're common at all.. it's an issue yes but not common.

Springs, bushes, vanos, roof motor are the issues to look at

Believe the owner has recently replaced a torque sensor in the steering rack due to power steering issues, says its all good now but I will of course check it thoroughly. I assume this is no issue if its been resolved?

So the cheap E46 325i that I considered purchasing a while ago (as I mentioned on here) has now had around £800 worth of parts changed (not inc labour) and not all of those are OEM spec parts so I guess we're talking over £1k if I was do it. Now the money itself wouldn't have been an issue but my concern about constant issues, based on what I read here, has certainly been justified!

I dread to think what current cars will be like when they're old!

Did it have the DISA replaced or just rebuilt? When I was looking at the E46 I read about the DISA valve and call me paranoid but I'd rather it was just replaced, given the potential damage it could cause. Bloody expensive for what it is :(

The repair basically guts it for anything that can realistically fail anyway tbh, not worth worrying about from that perspective.

My Dad's coupe is starting to suffer from a few bushes being well past their best, would imagine almost all of these are similar now. Hardly a big issue but something worth considering
