Xbox Scorpio

90% is a bit of an audacious figure to quote? How many of us have our entire collection of games on steam? :L not trying to start a war or nit pick here... surely it doesn't matter what OS it runs?

I think it's only 25% or so of games on Steam that run on Linux.

Needs to stand head and shoulders above the PS4 Pro and it doesn't look like it will to me. Good for some who'll upgrade anyway but will it turn the sales advantage back to MS ?. Maybe during launch - but long term ? no.

Thanks. Never owned one so couldn't think how much it was on launch, but I knew it was well over £400 depending on what package you bought.

I'm not implying just because the XB1 launched at x amount, Scorpio will be this because it's so much faster. It's just common sense for the hardware in the box, and the target resolution and fps it's targetting, to achieve that on PC you'll have to throw well over a grand to even start thinking about 4k let alone achieving that at 60fps. Even if the Scorpio can get that kinda performance, for £500 and up that is still hugely cheaper than a high end gaming PC. This is why I believe it'll be around £475 at the absolute cheapest but more than likely up to £100 more than that my gut is telling me.

I'd still buy one for that, and I've a pretty good PC, a PS4 Pro....but I do love everything about XB and Live, I was gutted when XB1 was so bad, I didn't even consider buying that POS console.

What, XB1 so bad? POS? the Xbox 1 is a great console.

£400+ on launch for a "next gen" console that 95% of titles couldn't even hold 30fps at 900p and still can't..it's one of the biggest disappointments in console history, not in sales but in what experience it delivered. Gaming is a stuttery mess in most games, visuals are downgraded substantially compared to PS4 direct comparisons. It's exclusives aren't so much exclusives anymore, with more and more appearing on Windows 10 as time goes by. Just a joke machine IMO.

Have a look at the PS3 - expensive, hard to code for, didn't even have rumble for the gamepads, terrible controller with really bad triggers and a very unstable network (PSN at the time) and didn't even have any progress tracking like Xbox live (achievements etc), it was actually reported to be the biggest let down after the success of the PS2 in gaming history. Sony did turn it around, but it was worse then X1. I know, I owned a launch PS3 and even as a diehard PlayStation fan the PS3 was a nightmare.

The X1 comparable to the PS4 wasn't and still isn't as good for most - it has its moments and strengths but it most certainly isn't the biggest disappointment in console history. Its just hasn't done as good against its nearest rivals, and came off the back of the xbox 360 which did extremely well in sales.

 How it does not? Its better than the PS4 Pro, just looking a the basic specs and how it will improve current and future games.

True, but Dreamcast on paper was a miles better console in specs and features, but didn't stop the PlayStation 2 bringing it to its knees, some say the Dreamcasts failures were software theft but most know the PlayStation 2, a more inferior machine just had the momentum - much like PS4 does now.

The specs of the new X1 look good, but its got one heck of a challenge ahead to catch up and even win back gamers from Sony.

Take your green tinted spectacles off. It's a valid point.

The fact many others including myself have said the same, you are correct. Its a very valid point. Nintendo sell consoles on the back of their exclusive titles, Sony does as well. Microsoft are well behind in this regard. And the also have a habit of either releasing the ones they do have on PC or cancelling them mid development.

Its not really the same as the Jaguar though, as the clocks they are getting from it where not possible on the original.
Plis everything else with the GPU etc, I would say 499 is the best cheap price.
Unless MS heavy subsidise the machines.

It's the same jaguar in the sense the PS4 pro cpu is the same jaguar, just overclocked. Basically a more effiecient matured process on a smaller nm that allows higher clocks. Will not cost more probably less given it's 30% smaller.

The GPU again is a 40 cu part, Just 4 more than the pro. New architecture and faster clock thanks to a muture process but they won't be paying much more for it.

And 4GB extra vram isn't going to break the banks. The pro is £320 right now with Sony and retailers making a healthy profit.

So imo I can't see it being over £399

My point exactly.

Typical Sony fans spouting the usual stuff.

Funny how resolution / performance has been a major thing while PS4 has been on top, yet now it's not important (it's suddenly all about exclusive titles).

PS4 Pro brings nothing to the table come Scorpio launch, it's underpowered, has woeful media functionality and a worse online platform.

Barely any good western exclusives on PS4 anyway. I don't want to play Jap crap.

Halo / Forza / Gears / Halo Wars / Quantum break / State of Decay are far more appealing than weird Asian games like Nier / Persona 5 / Yakusa / mavity Rush.
