That was my concern ie it would be an unlocked EE firmware. However, he replied "I have been assured that once the unlocking code has been entered the phone is then as per a factory unlocked one would be, They are not reliant on EE updates". Personally, I will be looking to check that the firmware shows a BTU or XEU code. If it shows EVR (EE), it's going straight back.
 
got to say I'm tempted but cant decide on 8 or 8+ had a play with both yesterday and just couldn't make my mind up decisions descions.......
 
Ok so BTU is unbranded UK and looks like the only one with extra update on 20th, XTU is UK/Ireland but no update yet and EVR is EE and no update so BTU is probably best..

If you had 5.7 inch or bigger and have large hands and want same or bigger screen get plus, if you have smaller hands or dont mind 5.2-5.4 equivalent screen (non edge equiv) then go for s8
 
I don't have particular large hands, and currently have a HTC 10 so the S8 is probably the better bet for me, theres no difference bar the size and battery is there?

Good to see the difference location makes... handy to know for when you're out and about struggling for battery, and don't need location... that it can be turned off and save loads! Very impressive

Debating now whether I really need mine on high accuracy or not..
 
Keep forgetting to ask but where is this stupid free speaker I'm meant to get for preordering from samsung? It came in a big box but all I got was some shopping bag for life thing

You don't get one from Samsung, only CPW and o2 do speaker, Samsung gives you 12 month light insurance

I had to sign up for it on the carphone warehouse promotions website. Haven't heard anything back about it yet though

It was only in America they got those small speakers bundled I believe.

As for the other speaker that's claimable only if purchased through Carphone Warehouse.

I can stream BTsport direct from my 7 edge to my LG E6 using the Smart View option on the phone and turning on Screen Share, i would imagine it would be even easier Samsung to Samsung,the quality is perfectly watchable
 
OK I'm confused now.

Loaded up both and set up via Wi-Fi in same way, without SIM card.
both started with the same firmware, G950FXXU1AQC9.

Neither has red tint, however, the chitter chatter (CC) one (EE apparently) has marginally darker screen, not exactly red but I'd say it's like changing brightness by about 3-4% (both are on max brightness and same settings).

Now that one already wants to update to AQDD update (286.58MB) - it doesn't say whether it's XEU, BTU or EV - it's just not mentioned.

The CPW one does say it's XEU and wants to update straight to AQDG (665.74MB).


-_- Guess I'll update both and go from there see if they both get to same status.

Great! I'll have a look at that...

Handset has arrived, just setting up and changing home button setup, Spigen thin case just arrived so popped it into the case....

Looking at the SamMobile firmware list, I believe that the PDA represents your build version. Your CSC is the sales code - you can check your ROM CSC by dialling *#1234#.

If Chitter Chatter is correct, after inputting the code to unlock and an update, I would hope to see a PDA of G950FXXU1AQDD and a CSC of G950FOXM1AQDD for an S8 BTU UK phone.

ok, that *#1234# shows it, chitter chatter is CSCG950FEVR1AQD9 CSC and G950FXXU1AQDD AP/CP
Carphone warehouse one is CSC G950F0XM1AQDG (although it says in softare info XEU service provider) and G950FXXU1AQDG AP/CP (newer update - the CC one did not get the new update yet).

ALTHOUGH - now that the CPW one got the new update with new color calibration options, it did get a tiny red hint, which is removed mostly with tuning down the red or warmth on settings...

Also the CC one does come with 2 EE apps installed.

Thanks for the update. Is that after the unlock code has been entered? If so, the info I was given yesterday in the Webchat was incorrect.
