Well, it's a clever word play, while I'm sure it will be no different in terms of unlocked as in "accepting all sims", I would not be so certain about the firmware - surely just the unlock code is not going to change the firmware version? All its going to do is let you use any sim.
Can someone with EE handset, Voda handset and say sim free handset confirm their firmware codes and when they got the inital update?
That was my concern ie it would be an unlocked EE firmware. However, he replied "I have been assured that once the unlocking code has been entered the phone is then as per a factory unlocked one would be, They are not reliant on EE updates". Personally, I will be looking to check that the firmware shows a BTU or XEU code. If it shows EVR (EE), it's going straight back.
