The same sequence may be applied to every other successful civilisation in history. Don't like it? Don't get invaded.

Disagree. Few civilisations have pushed indigenious populations to the verge of extinction like the British (and Spanish) did in the Americas and Australasia.

But that really matter? I mean we're going to go through a painful Brexit with nearly half the population not having voted for it? Sure, more did but.....
How often does Gibralter get to vote on the matter? As so much time has gone by it's accepted that we rule it, but is that really right? Land grabbed during times of war should really be returned? We not want control given back to us from the EU, should we therefore be returning land that didn't once belong to us?

Just throwing thoughts out there !
...and then there's the Falklands...what else ? :)

Ceuta and Melilla? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceuta_and_Melilla http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14114627

Chad, officially the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest and Niger to the west. Wikipedia

Thanks Wikipedia and wildly random northern paper naming conventions! :D

As a Greek living here 14y, must say Mays' speech last night was right. The European media outlets and politicians from across all corners are trying to meddle with our elections, and even left wing broadcasters have some punitive ideas regarding brexit.
The same hypocrites who got their degrees in this country.

Imho the government should announce that they reduce the naturalization fee from 1300 to 300 for all EU citizens who are more than couple of years here and earn at least the minimum wage p.a.
And simplify the damn form which is dozen of pages big and has to be filled with pen.

Why would they? They (the EU) literally have no vested interest in who is in Government here.

They even said from the start the election outcome would make no difference to the negotiations, particularly as Teresa May has been banging on about a majority giving her a stronger hand.

are you seriously that naive?

I guess we can have the United States back? And all those African countries that fought for their independence should sod off too! Argentina is now Spanish again?
Huh? No, we tried to do the same there? If memory serves me right we were forced out and rightly so. again, the USA was not ours either but an attempt at making it, or at least some of it,ours.

Explain to me how it benefits the EU to be negotiating with say, Labour over the Tories? Or do you seriously think that they fear Teresa's mad skillz so much and want Corybn in because he will be a pushover and pay them €100 billion for no reason.

Civil servants don't change when the government does...

That's just saying we could sign up to EFTA and benefit from its free trade agreements with countries around the world... not that we could have a free trade agreement like the EEA with the EU without free movement. That's not exactly surprising/a big deal, is it?
Absolutely. They need another agreement in place like Switzerland (limited free movement) or Canada (no free movement) has. It does make it easier to get a lot of trade deal in place quickly if necessary. With laws already aligned it should make it a lot more straight forward.

It doesn't. But what is true, is that Labour is still within the S&D grouping in the EUP, which would give them at least some clue as to what was going on and an informal forum to press for a more favourable treatment from like-minded politicians. Something May's party lacks thanks to Dave's wish to be a winner against Davis in that ancient Tory leadership battle nobody recalls now. Indeed, the accumulation of unforced tactical errors due to domestic politics will probably costs us as much or more as any lack of a clear plan.

To what extent is free movement limited with regards to Switzerland? They also have a trading agreement with the UK which is significantly inferior to EEA membership, no? It only has partial access for services... which makes up 80% of our economy.
To live there more than 3 months all EU nations require a residence permit and to demonstrate no current or pending criminal record. New EU members can not go unless they have not fulfilled their very limited quota numbers for those countries. This currently applies to 3 EU countries. Switzerland are trying to widen this to apply to all EU nations also.

Their agreements apply where the laws are aligned. There are parts where they aren't aligned so not included.

How anybody could seriously vote for UKIP now they've shown how utterly shambolic they are without Farage as leader, is beyond my comprehension.

Couldn't organise a knees-up in a brewery.

The quotas you mentioned have expired, as per the article, no? How's registration any different from what other countries can choose to do? Eg. When I moved to Finland we were meant to register after three months... but I don't think all countries choose to have that system. How's what they can do different from what we can?

It shows the old quotas have gone. Looks like a formal piece of paperwork now for a permit. I imagine criminal records still bar you from the country. I'm not surprised they voted to reintroduce quotas for all nations. Still not managed to agree it with the EU though. That could backfire on them in an election.

You'd imagine, so can't evidence it? Or explain how their rules differ from what EU27 members can do?

And formal piece of paperwork for a permit? What was it before, a stuffed giraffe for a permit? A formal piece of paper for a permit means a permit :p.
It's a biometric residence permit so a bit more than just paperwork.

Apply for welfare you will lose your residence rights: https://www.ch.ch/en/working-switzerland-eu-efta/

Quotas apply to Croatia currently:

This is from 2015 and confirms criminal records not allowed http://www.expatica.com/ch/visas-an...-and-family-moving-to-Switzerland_443220.html

Seriously? They had one recognisable politician and one popular policy, neither are involved in this election. Now they are firmly back to being the BNP in a suit and are shedding support like a snowman in the sahara.

Their star donor and only MP have departed! They dumped their lady leader; punched another semi-intelligible hopeful out; now Nuttall thinks his CV is a work of art, in between his active professional football career and burqa fetish. Why bother! :D
