Stephen Fry under police investigation......for blasphemy?

Fry wisely choosing to bad mouth the easy target of Christianity.

Perhaps he would like to live in a country were homosexuals are
illegal ?

You mean like the UK for the first 10 years of his life?

Not sure what the "non-christian" part has to do with it, the church isn't well known for its tolerance throughout much of history

Looked to me like he answered the question he was asked and he answered honestly. His views are very well known so what did the interviewer expect? You don't want to know the answer, don't ask the question.

Hat's off to Mr. Fry!

I'm not really surprised even in the UK we seem to reaching a point in history where just offending someone (who is hypersensitive to begin with) is grounds for criminal prosecution if reported, whatever happened to common sense? it's no wonder police don't have enough funding when they're dealing with so many nonsense cases all of the time.

Just FYI the complainant in this instance made a point of saying that he was not offended by the comments made.

Not sure if that makes it better or worse tbh!

I thought he bad mouthed God, as in the sky fairy from all abrahamic religions? The one who told Abraham to kill, his son. A story Which you may believe? It sounds like a dangerous delusion to me.

So it wasn't reported because they were offended, but because it broke a law. Unfortunately we can't really decide which laws we want to follow, no matter how loony, without potentially facing some consequences.
If he'd said the same thing about Mohamad/Allah he would be getting less support, and probably now be in fear of his life. As it's Christianity we can laugh though.

Lol religion. Seriously the human race will not progress much further unless religion is completely killed off.
But replaced with what and who? Sadly people need to feel led by something. Tolerance is what is needed but again of what? How do you agree a set of living standards with such a diverse environment.
I wish there was a simple answer.
Andi.

If only we had some sort of system of laws based on our evolving moral codes...

Who would define that and how would you get everyone to agree? UK parliament has 650 odd members and they can't even agree on the basics. It is hopeless I fear.

You may fear that, personally I find even the current system of rule of law in the UK infinitely preferable to seriously dated nonsense made up by sky fairy group delusions.

Ahhhh, it's good to see that Ireland and their religion have kept up with the times...

I don't think the author knows how many high-tech US companies have their EMEA HQ's and development teams in Cork and Dublin.

He was asked a question he answered it truefully, his answer was perfect imo I'm surprised his interview resurfaced it's years old, the guy who reported it claims wasn't offended but reports it? So either is lying or wants attention

I think God would be more annoyed at the amount of catholic priests abusing young boys in the name of Christianity rather than Stephen Fry's comment.

Far from it, God is more concerned with people believing in him than bothering about things like child abuse, rape, slavery, etc.
