TfL, for what it services, does a grand job. However that doesn't necessarily translate once you extrapolate things does it?
Why wouldn't it? There are around 4.8 million London Underground journeys per day versus 4.5 million UK rail journeys.

really? look at this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground_strikesHe also makes a good point. TfL workers are constantly on strike over pay/ working conditions. Imagine that nationwide?
Yeah well I disagree, as a family we don't want to pay anymore to fund the lunacy of small minded scroats as we already pay thousands.![]()
Obviously not. At least it's not the preferred outcome. But if it was a choice between foreign owned but the level of service we have now, or nationalisation but with a lesser service (which is my opinion) I would take the 1st option. As an everyday comuter.

Government recently took hold of east coast mainline. Quickly sold that off because it was a disaster.
National Express realised it was losing money hand over fist – but the government was not willing to renegotiate. Lord Adonis, then transport secretary, set up Directly Operated Railways, a not-for-dividend subsidiary of the Department for Transport, to manage the service. The last four years, according to DOR's own accounts, published this month, have been an extraordinary success.
The first half of this year has seen levels of punctuality not achieved by any operator of the east coast mainline "since records in their current form began", although poor weather affected the latter part of last year. The company has won 13 industry awards since April 2012, including that of being Britain's top employer. There has been a 4.2% increase in ticket sales year-on-year, £208.7m returned to the taxpayer during the year in premium and dividend payments, and a record level of customer satisfaction.
Really? A guardian article...
if it was such a great success why then sell it?
You are taxed on your individual earnings, not combined.
Unless you are telling me that both you and your wife earn £80,000 each? And you don't think a penny extra should fund things like the NHS? In that case vote Tory, you'll fit right in.
The railways aren't just foreign-owned. They are foreign *state* owned. Money that you pay for your commute goes to pay for other countries public transport networks.
i think the issue is more with year on year fare rises, crap service and massive profits, ideologically it may fit the free market concept but it isn't working for many people that use themNo, the railways are UK government owned. Some of the operators are privately owned and some are foreign owned - ultimately those foreign owned operators belong to states. I don't really see a big issue with state vs private ownership but would rather not see a complete state monopoly. Whether a foreign buyer is ultimately owned by a foreign government or owned by various shareholders doesn't really matter.
All people need to band together to make Brexit a success, tax everyone more, would be the fairest way.

Putting aside whether or not that is an accurate reflection of reality - why would removing competition improve that? I mean, as pointed out, a significant portion are already state owned?
Other than TFL, none are state owned...
How about a mirror article instead?

Because that's what the conservatives do...
Plenty are actually - by foreign states as already mentioned.
Do Labour have any MPs who aren't thick as pig ****?
