What is birmingham like to live in?

Lol you are all a bunch of bloody wimps :o

Honestly though - it's pretty awesome and would stand toe-to-toe with most cities. Of course there are bad bits, as with anywhere.

'Scared for my life when walking to my car' lmao :D

to be fair it is worth considering that there are some areas of Birmingham that you'll probably not want to live in unless you subscribe to a particular belief system
Same in most big cities, I woudln't live in parts of Glasgow without the same belief in Celtic, IrnBru and Bucky etc.

The thread is about Birmingham though I'm not sure what relevance Glasgow is?
The point being there's plenty of bits of plenty of cities where you wouldn't want to be if you didn't subscribe to certain locally popular things. The given example with Glasgow was supporting Celtic on the wrong street, but I'm sure there's bits of Birmingham where making your support of, say, Aston Villa, known is a great way to win a trip to the dentist.

well yes - but the thread isn't about many cities it is about Birmingham

Yes, but it's not an unreasonable parallel, is it? Why single out Birmingham? I wouldn't want to live in Moss Side or Toxteth or Brixton (or wherever in London is a dump just now) either.

Because the thread is literally about Birmingham! Seriously????

Ok, fine, but some posters seem intent on portraying Birmingham as an absolute hellhole when the truth is most cities have their good bits and their bad bits.

you quoted me - I've got no issue with Birmingham but pointed out that the OP might not want to live in certain areas (for good reason), I grew up there!

Pretty much. Having also lived in Glasgow I can attest to this.

Given that OP has a porsche I imagine he can afford to live in the nicer areas (I've heard jewellery quarter is nice)

The drivers in Birmingham are mostly selfish. But otherwise it's a bit alright.

Actually funny you mention that as the last time I was there that was the thing that stood out the most for me. Drivers up here are crap, don't get me wrong, but in Brum they were just ***** of the highest order. Driving on the wrong side of the road, pulling out in front of you, tailgating like mad.
