I still think Nvidia will release a Volta Titan this year? I just hope they change that Titan name to something else? They also have to do a complete overhaul of the reference design.

I didn't say there wont be a Titan Volta, there absolutely definitely will, just it wont be this year, Q1/Q2 next year. this year will be 2080.
2080Ti for people who can't count.
Yes, the 880ti was a beast.
Since when has 20 came after 10?I'd say the 2080 will come out first around September-January, Titan Volta around March and then 2080 Ti around June followed by a full fat Titan Volta a month or 2 after.
Since when has 20 came after 10?
There wasn't an 880Ti, but there were 8 series GPUs.
Well essentially they went 7-8-9-10, so...Indeed there was, and the 8 series came after the 7 series and before the 9 series.
What came after the 700 series? The 900 series.
And what came after the 900 series? The 10 series.
Nvidia naming conventions aren't for pedants.

They released 8 series GPUs. That's the point. This means that they didn't actually skip the 8 series, it was just restricted. Desktop or not is irrelevant. They didn't, they went 700-900-10.
Nvidia skipped the 800 series for desktop.

I think the 1070/1080 versions of Volta (GV104?) are likely before the year is out or at the most early 2018. The 1080 has been out a year already remember. It would be unlikely for Nvidia to go a whole 2 years without a new generation, or at least a refresh of some sort so I am expecting something by early 2018 at the latest.
