*** Nintendo Switch ***

Same. I'm surprised that the Switch still doesn't have an ethernet port in the year 2017, despite Nintendo being adamant that its home console first and all that. Wifi problems has me worried about games like Splatoon 2 which rely on online. I guess it validates the excuse that Bungie didn't want to put Destiny 2 on Switch due to online connectivity. Does the Switch have a USB ethernet adaptor accessory? That could solve connection issues in a home environment. In the worst case scenario, my wi-fi router is on the same table as the Switch would be on anyway (only space I have left to put it).

I would hope they fix these issues promptly, or it might negatively impact sales.

To be fair most devices are going the way of removing LAN ports and using USB adapters these days, most high end laptops don't even have an LAN port now sadly.

If you are in the same room as the router it's fine, but I bet you never get full signal strength.

I always have full wireless signal strength in the same room, if I go into the next room it fluctuates between full and 2 bars.

The signal (or reading of) is definitely not as strong as on my other wireless devices; but I haven't had any real issues with connectivity in general use so far.

I aim to own one by July 11th. With shopping beginning on the 1st.

Thats when the wife to be goes to Milan for a week on training for work. So I'll have a week to nerd out to the max to get it out of my system and stay up till ridiculous hours playing Zelda and MK8D everywhere I go :D

I finally got one yesterday via Amazon Prime Now, nice birthday present to myself =D

I've had Zelda sitting on my shelf since March, and I received Mario Kart 8 today. Are these any other must have games?

Also in terms of accessories, what do people recommend? I had a glance through the thread and I've ordered a Hori Case and Orzly Tempered Glass Screen Protectors, not sure i'd missed out on any other essentials.

Depends on whether you plan on having much local multiplayer going on. I personally have Bomberman and Mariokart for home fun with friends, of course that means having two joycons (at least - I plan on another set as you can play up to 8 on Bomberman!). With 2 sets of joycons and a plan for a third, I went with the £29.99 joy con charger - it holds 2 pairs of joycons neatly so I don't lose the buggers and ensure they are all always charged (rather than needing to remember to swap them out on the Switch itself), in addition it saves me from having to keep putting the cons back on the Switch itself (which is good for me because I don't have the Switch in an easy place to pull out of the dock......I mean I haven't put it somewhere too inconvenient - I just need to pull it forward off the cabinet but that can be annoying if constantly putting joycons on and off it).
It also means when I have a third set I can have that on the Switch, so again, no joycons lying around the place

It may seem a bit steep but the pro controller is superb. If you've never played Shovel Knight then that's great fun.

I bought Thumper on Friday. I love it but bloody hell it's stressful!

I'd recommend a case and a screen protector (The ones you have listed are the ones I have bought and I'm glad I purchased them).

Game Wise, you're spot on with those 2. If you're enjoying Zelda the DLC will be a worth addition, Also take a look into Splatoon 2.

Also take a look at the eShop, Snakepass, Shovel knight, Thumper, NEO RMX are all worth a look!

Regardless, one would probably want the best connection in docked mode, at least for playing multiplayer games like Splatoon. As @Phate mentioned, a guy on Youtube called Spawnwave did some actual internet speed tests comparing the built-in wifi, with a couple of USB ethernet adaptors. Even the cheaper, not so great adaptors beat out the wifi. The best one he showed in the video is this one by a company called Plugable which is USB 3.0. The official Nintendo one isn't as fast and is twice the price! There's also another USB 3 option from reliable old Anker here which is a smidge cheaper than the other one. But most importantly, if you buy the go-to Anker battery bank for playing on the go, buying the USB ethernet adaptor with it nets you a 20% discount on the whole lot (costs ~£30 together so you save about a fiver).

Anyhows, I went ham on Amazon looking up accessories yesterday. Getting all of the accessories and the most expensive options of each accessory sums up to more than the cost of the Switch itself lol. I'll start of with a couple of essential bits and I'll ask what you folks think. First off, screen protectors and microSD cards.

Orzly Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector Twin-pack - £8.99@Amazon
amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector (2 pack) - £8.99@Amazon

Sandisk Ultra 128GB MicroSD Card - £37.19@Amazon
Samsung Evo+ 128GB MicroSD Card - £44.99@Amazon
Sandisk Ultra 200GB MicroSD Card - £65.99@Amazon
Lexar 200GB MicroSDXC Card - £75.99@Amazon
Samsung Evo+ 256GB MicroSD Card - £108.95@Amazon

While I do prefer physical copies, I have gotten some games digital. And especially on the 3DS, I was suprised to find that I ran out of space with a decent SD card. I'm the type of person who puts a 500GB SSD in my PS4.

Pro controller if you're going to be playing docked.

As for games, Shovel Knight was a nice game to tide me over until MK8. Minecraft could also be worth a look if that sort of game floats your boat.

Snake Pass is also interesting although I haven't played a great deal of that yet.

Interesting, definitely sounds like mine is faulty.

I assume you're on 2.4Ghz band wifi?

Probably won't make much difference either way, but perhaps there is some other factor that results in a weaker signal. Strange that you also have the Joycon issues though.

I've read others posting the problem you describe in addition to occasional loss of connection. It could be down to certain batch of systems, but probably best to rule out everything else first.

I bought Thumper on Friday. I love it but bloody hell it's stressful!

Haha I know right. Thumper is my favourite indie game on Switch so far though.

Is it easy/safe enough to download games which aren't available in your current region like the binding of isaac? It's weird hows is taken so long to come out in the UK?
