London Bridge Incident

Why don't we at least try to find out? We know carrying on as we are doesn't work, let's acknowledge that we need to try something else.

so what should we try then? on a scale of burn the mosques to light a candle what should we try? do we give may her censored internet and give up free speech, free media and freedom of privacy to catch a couple more nutcases a year?

tbh more armed police would work, you don't go on a knife rampage with a fake bomb vest if either real bombs or guns are "easily available", which would suggest that they aren't. that might be it's own can of worms for many people but do some research and you'll see that outside the land of the free giving policemen guns doesn't suddenly make them racist murdering psychopaths.

Community police fulfil a vital intelligence purpose, to dismiss them as not able to make a difference to terrorism is short sighted.

I think at this point the only thing that Britain can do is weather the storm, only make small careful moves/changes that might help. Hold your chins up and keep going. It will stop eventually. Sooner or later the western world will probably be facing much bigger problems.

They would have to be very close to the incident location to begin with, how would that be achieved?
Don't get me wrong 8 minutes is will an amazing response.

But if that first BTP officer was a pair of officers on patrol with say tazer then hypothetically there could have been a lot less casualties.

London and other larger cities aside for the moment, you're lucky if you see street bobbies day to day in a lot of southern towns. Police numbers are a joke.

Does giving police guns stop vans running people over or bombs detonating in stadiums?

No. It doesn't.

They will have to change the laws to be able to hold people indefinitely purely on speculation. It's going to be a weird country were you can be banged up for just talking about stuff. Money should be spent behind the scenes but be able to follow up aggressively on information.

So what happens to the policemen now? IPCC investigation I assume...

Good idea, I'll change my facebook picture in support immediately.
It will stop eventually.
Doubt it.

Yes idiot Terrorists are forced to attack our capital with knives and a white van. armed officers kill them within 8 minutes.
Lets widely distribute firearms?

So if you saw me shooting a terroirst, you certainly wouldn't shoot me.

I'll shout Admiral Ackbar too, whilst holding the remote control for my MP3 player
Now is the time to make some sort of decision - doing nothing has predictably resulted in more terrorist atrocities. How bad does it need to get before we do what needs to be done?

No that has been going on for 1400 years.

What if it doesn't stop, when will a line be drawn? What/where will that line be?

I suppose nobody knows at the moment.

Arming everycop will result in more deaths, more criminals bring armed, an arms race so to speak.

Did anybody catch the Muslim bloke on BBC news saying he phoned the hotline to report one of the attackers? Can't say this looks too good, assuming it's true.

I think even if police presence was increased and if all police were armed with either a gun or a tazer it would make little difference, those officers still have to be in the right place at the right time

People always forget this, people on the ground in communities hear things early and its something that police have done for years effectively. how much has that suffered from this governments 25% reduction in police funding? To think that its had no impact is simply denial, especially when real police officers are telling us it has.

There is simply no argument with this, there can't be.

They had to get there and then find them. Dont forget they had moved on from the original incident.

Thanks for info. I suppose 8 minutes is good timeframe. It just strikes me as odd anyway since this was in the very heart of London, exactly where police presence I would expect to be very significant.

My solution (to start with):

- throw all foreign extremists out of the country
- don't let any UK born extremists who left the country to come back
- close down every mosque or islamic school sympathising with terrorists, hosting a hate preacher or "teaching" anti-western propaganda
- scrap pathetic political correctness so people can report any extremist activity without fear of being labeled racists, fascists or xenophobes
- death penalty for all failed terrorists
- handguns for all police force

I wonder, do people here find this too extreme?

Corbyn nailing it in Carlisle. No political points scoring just complete commitment to the police.

Yes. Death penalty we shouldnt have for anything IMO and esp not this as it makes them a martyr. Life imprisonment is fine.
The police dont want guns, all it will mean is the criminals will tool up and it will escalate. More people innocent people will get shot accidentally as well.
There is no PC stopping people reporting extremist activity. That isnt the same as been allowed to sate on a forum "all Muslims are terrorists" though.

Rest is fine..
