Can someone shed some light on why Newcastle can count their votes in about an hour, but Kensington are coming upto 12 hours and still haven't counted. Did their counters all go home at 10pm last night?

Probably. A lot of areas wont pay the overtime to do it as it comes out of their budget.

That's just not true I'm afraid - alternative fact.

Their affiliations with the NI regimes is well understood and you are wrong. But they only achieved 300k in raw votes so even with 10 seats the media, public and Sinn Fein would crucify a DUP coalition.

Would easily destabilise NI as well.

I suspect negotiations will start with a Tory government - I very much doubt Labour would actually win an election with corbyn in charge.

I tend to agree. However I am very pleased the Tories will be held to account on thier Brexit stance, and tempered into a less authoritarian path. Let's face it, power and a blank cheque rarely go together well.

I agree with that generally, but then there is Corbyn, who is utterly toxic and incapable of representing us on the world stage.

I'm starting to question whether anyone can represent us on the world stage, we're a laughing stock now regardless of who is in No. 10.

The Brexit referendum has put this country on the path to ruin, it matters little who is steering the ship

Yep, all thanks to the Conservatives, they allowed this to happen.

UKIP were never a threat to them and if anything helped them because they hovered up a large chuck of the disillusioned Labour voters.

Excellent news. Glad I didn't even bother voting.

Its getting much more interesting. We will see how far "democracy" goes if they make us take another referendum (give us another chance to pick the "right" answer.

In the interregnum we will hopefully not see a coalition of labour and "other party".

I agree with that generally, but then there is Corbyn, who is utterly toxic and incapable of representing us on the world stage.

As far as Brexit goes, Labour do have Kier Starmer - who is one of the country's top lawyers, so they do have some pretty strong players on their negotiating team,

I said that before and I'll keep saying it - this election was meant to be about one thing and one thing only. And as such it should have been fought between Conservatives and "coalition for Europe" consisting of Labour, SNP and LibDems, with only one point in their manifesto - "we will stop Brexit". For all three "alternatives" that was the only chance to win and rule the country. Instead Labour made a selfish decision to play careers instead of do what's best for the country. Labour would also win with anyone, literally anyone other than Corbin at the front. Now whoever replaces May will have to run another election as there is no flipping way Davis or de Pfeffel Johnson should initiate Brexit as unelected leaders....

And then there was May....who couldn't even get on a domestic stage to debate.....:o

(I voted MRLP btw, being so disillusioned with everyone right now and in a safe Tory seat)

Jesus, your hypocrisy knows no bounds.....you have made yourself a laughing stock on this forum lately

He's the person who predicted a fall in turnout, to 55 - 60% based on wandering down to his local polling station to vote.

Actual turnout continues to trend upwards, nearly 69% for this election (which is about the only positive to take out of the result imo!)

The EU prophesy of UK being poorer will now come to pass sadly.
... because we'll now have to pay them billions to be in the single market, and mass-immigration will continue to erode the social foundations of this country and drive down wages

I can't understand why May decided to add 'nails in the coffin' to their manifesto. It's like they've done everything they could to loose votes.

Removing school meals - hitting middle age voters.
Removing pension cap - hitting pensioners
Tuition fees - hitting students

That and their calamitous privatisation (without reducing overalls costs) of many of our public services, it's no surprise they've been hit hard.

Moan moan moan.

Access to the single market was never going to come for free. This election changes nothing.
