Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier sets sail tonight

The Royal Navy has GCHQ behind it, plus we'll have a plethora of experts that we can contact from the US, which includes the NSA. These are some of the best hackers in the world with probably the highest budget in the world. If there's a vulnerability they'll know about it. We're far more likely to hack the Russians than vice versa

Make em amphibious and retrieve from the sea on landing.

How do you retrieve it from the sea?

Hele copter and a guy with a winch?

That's a lot of risk and impossible in bad weather
Plus means you need a helipad.

Would it not be better to have a short runway or helipad the drones csn land on rather than adding in a fairly dangerous and time consuming sea rescue?

A lot of their attack and defence systems connect with other ships, aircraft and equipment so they share data with each other.

Yup - UK navy has one of the more advanced intergrated fire control systems in the world but also means its going to have to deal with potential intrusion attempts.

They've demonstrated how you can eg. put software on USB charged vape pens, so someone could innocently plug in one of them to charge and then the computer doesn't necessarily need internet access for things to go wrong. Like how stuxnet got into the uranium processing areas and screwed with the centrifuges. So they could still do harm without internet access.

I've seen some proof of concepts of the other way around where a USB charger has a microchip embedded that can root or take advantage of flaws in MTP that many phones have weaknesses to so as to get root control of the phone/upload malware. Not sure if that would useful once onboard a ship mind unless they had poor internal wifi security.

Obviously everything military would be technologically the most advanced "anything" in the world, and such authority would have any right what so ever to protect it. Human rights laws etc mean nothing when it comes to this sort of thing - when potentially the level of threat is nuclear.

Logically thinking, it makes sense for security organisations to employ the best hackers/coders in the world. People these days do not do anything for honour or respect or whatever these days, its all about the money nothing more nothing less. Look at the now- classic hack group Anonymous - if such a proper hacking group existed then they could overthrow ANY thing what so ever. Ain't happened. And by the way guys - Anonymous if you guys see this, I think you're absolutely awesome keep up the (albeit lately lacking) great work, love ya.

So she's due into Portsmouth by the 22nd August, some sources state between 17th - 22nd.

Have just read that she's returned to Invergordon, so I'm not sure if this will delay her arrival into Pompey. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-40887369

However, what I was wondering was where would be the best place(s) to get a glimpse of her as she enters? Any OcUK members with local knowledge or been for other vessels enter/leaving Portsmouth?

Thanks

Anywhere along the Gosport Ferry seafront section, or (if its still open) better still would be the Haslar Hot Walls. The beachfront at Gilkicker is also a possibility

My friend from cadets (dont speak anymore though) is currently stationed on the QE2 and just uploaded a video on FB of it pulled up next to a Nimitz with 2 F-18s flying over, Sheers awesomeness!
