The last few releases from AMD have been underwhelming.

I'm going to say that perf of the FE will be near enough the perf of the RX Vega. Trading blows with the 1080, dipping down to 1070 perf in some titles.

Hope I'm wrong... but then I hoped the 480 would be a 980 competitor, and it wasn't on release, being more like a 970.

This time AMD don't have time to refine their drivers - the 10 series is a year old, and the 11 series will be out in a matter of months. If it takes AMD months to get their drivers up to par, then they are going to be battered and bruised by "poor Volta".

:)

so come on people place your bets for rx vega

equal to GTX 1080

equal to GTX 1070

equal to GTX 1080 overclocked to 2.1ghz

equal to 1080 ti

faster than all the above

my vote? 1080

equal to GTX 1080 overclocked to 2.1ghz

EDIT: basically I always hoped it would fall in the middle between a 1080 and 1080ti...

Provided it has a good cooler and doesn't throttle, I'd expect it to be a bit faster than at 1080 at launch, but nipping at the 1080ti's heels in six months.

Yes i reckon The RX version will be around 1080 performance, maybe slightly higher, going by the FE benches.

If it does only have that sort of gaming performance though, it needs to be around £400 because lets face it the 1080 has been out over a year, has a 100w lower TDP, and Volta is likely to be out within 6-9 months months of RX Vega's release.

I'm still finding the whole "poor volta" thing utterly bemusing, seen as it doesn't even look like Vega will be able to match the top Pascal card.

I wonder if they regret that little stunt, now.

Seems their PR is nowhere to be seen now it's needed, but they take plenty of pot shots at the opposition when they have no competing products on the horizon.
