Weight loss update.

I'd be very interested in more details mate, the transformation is amazing and as a 28 stone male at 6ft8 this gives me hope.

How have you worked out your portion sizes, how much would you say your weekly food budget is?

You're 28st?

So had a bit of stall so currently at 16.10. Weekly food budget is about 30 quid give or take.

Plateaued?
 
Portion control is a big part of it for sure as I can make a salad unhealthy lol. I was 28 stone 3 so know the issues you can get. You really have to get your head in a good place first. without that it is virtually impossible to keep going.
 
If your head is not in the right place the routine is nearly impossible. Tried and failed so many times but finally got my head right and it's working well for me know. (other people may not struggle).

The best way to manage portion control is to let someone / something else decide for you. Start using the MyFitnessPal app to count calories. Put in your weight and your target weight loss (aim for ~ 0.5kg per week) and it will tell you how much food you can eat. Log everything you eat and you can see how well you are doing.

You don't need to keep logging forever but it gives you a good way of learning how to manage your portion control properly.
 
No don't work at tesco but one of the other big 3. I try not to set a goal weight as I have lost 10 stone before and when I got my target weight stopped doing all the good things and put 15 stone back on. Doing it this way has to be a change for life so when I get close to what I think is okay I will just increase my portion sizes to maintain instead of losing. Or that's the idea anyway. I have done 0 exercise as well and really need to start swimming and bike riding again.

Yup not a bad way to do it. I logged nothing but just kept to healthy clean foods and that works for me.

My stepbrother is in the same position, weighs around 25 stone, and is 19. 19! He just seems to eat for no reason. He is currently on a diet, and losing some weight (A stone and a bit) in the past couple of weeks. His problem is, giving up.
How did you maintain the motivation for it all? I know everyone is different, thing is, at heart, he is a quitter which pains us all!

You know what I'm not the most motivated person in the world and it's took me many years to realise that it's proberly going to kill me if I don't do something. Still struggle daily with it but just have to remind myself of the consequences.
 
Great stuff, keep it up. I weighed in at 17 stone this time last year so started doing 15-20k a day on my mountain bike, combined with a few other lifestyle changes and I have dropped 45 pounds. 9 more pounds to go and I will be happy.

Out of interest how did you get your head right? I'm in a terrible shape/condition and have the know how and tools but suspect I keep failing for mental reasons...
 
Personally, it helps to have a goal or a purpose, e.g. I want to run xx race in 6 months time, and then setting a new goal once it's done. It doesn't have to be huge, there will be a number of smaller events (like local 5KM fun run) near you.

To be honest I think it was more a case of this HAS to happen. Took me a good few years to actually get to the point that I needed to be at. I don't think there is any particular method.
 
Hi again guys. Been a little while since I posted so thought a little update would be nice. So far my total weightloss is 12 stone 5 lbs. Started at 28 stone 3 currently 15 stone 12. Feeling great at the moment but still struggle everyday with food cravings. Not going to let it beat me I will keep going.

15stone 12 is a daaaayum sight more healthy than 28 stone.

Edit : you are also sooo close to being literally half the size you used to be! Wow :o
