*** Nintendo Switch ***

Ah man, thats a shame. Hope they get it sorted out.

I'll be picking up another set of Joy cons when the green & pink ones come out. Hopefully I won't encounter the same. Right now I've go the classic "left joy con" issue. Seriously tempted just to open it up myself. Not like I am incapable.

What would be nice is a method to tighten up the joy con connection on the rails. Mine are not loose but there is definitely minor wiggle room.
I found the joy cons have gotten looser with age , I think it's a natural process due to the rails on the joy con being plastic.

I could tell this because when I bought my yellow ones they were really stiff on the console but after some sliding in and out they have loosened off a little

As long as they don't continue to get looser. I use my Switch on the go everyday so the joycons when attached do get used. I make a point of never holding the Switch by just a 1 joycon though to reduce the strain on it.

Does the Switch have an Online friends code thread yet? Or are we waiting for the online service to see if they make it easier?

They stop at minor wiggle.

All colour combos that aren't launch colours are guaranteed to have the fix on the left joy con.

Would you recommend a switch for an 11 year old and if so, what games?

Also anyone know if it would be cheaper to get one in the US?

Yes. Its a cracking console and Nintendos game style will be appealing to all ages. Games wise Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario X Rabbids when it comes out soon. Mario Odyssey when it comes out. Zelda? But it may be a bit too much for them. Also there is snipperclips, Splatoon 2, ARMS they're all fun and appropriate for all ages really. Plenty of other eshop games available too.

Thanks, we have a trip to Florida coming up, but looking at prices and the exchange rate you don't really save much and then have warranty issues...

The games are another thing though, are all switches region free?

Honestly, no.

The 2DS/3DS has a much better library, particularly for that age. It's also a cheaper and sturdier device.

Once the platform develops in a few years time then the Switch would be a better choice.

All Switches are totally region free, so don't worry about that. In terms of price saving...it entirely depends on what exchange rate you can get. I am not sure how it works with warranty, whether it is worldwide or not. I know a few people on here have american ones so maybe they can help. Mine is from the UK as friends bought it for me and brought it over to Portugal. But I think it should be ok. Was bought from Nintendo UK directly.

Really should check out the warranty situ...hmm...

How do I go about getting an amiibo I want the skyward sword link but don't want to pay £30 for it :(

You can just make your own NFC tag for about 70p instead of wasting your money on an Amiibo.

You have no problems with an EU console in an EU country. I get my French Switch and UK Joy Cons repaired under warranty by the Swiss arm of Nintendo without any issues.

You might have an issue once the UK cuts off its nose to spite its face though, but you will be out of warranty by then anyway.

Yeah, a "friend" of mine has done this and it makes a lot of sense. Its really easy to do and NFC tags are cheap.
