Mine dragged a huge wood pigeon in not too long back, bloody thing flapped around a bit on the kitchen floor before coming to it's senses and taking flight into the house. Took ages to catch the thing, and all the Mrs could do to help, in between her bouts of crying with laughter, was sing 'Stop the pigeon' and snigger in her Mutley voice.

A trap both sides of the piano, each with half a grape as I was eating some when the mouse was discovered. I would normally use peanut butter but we didn't have any. Definitely a case of more luck than judgement but will remember that as peanut butter goes like glue and is a pain when you want to clean the trap.

It's the age-old question. What do our pets think we are?

I'm fairly sure they don't think we're cats. They are quite capable of identifying other creatures as prey/danger, based on size, smell, etc.

But maybe cats think we need to hunt regardless of what we are.

Maybe it's a menu suggestion? "Sick of Felix now, kthx."

Or maybe it's a present. We may never know.

Glad mine doesn't hunt tho. Diseases, fleas... yuck.

On one occasion this big bundle of innocence bought a live but small bird into the house and released it into the kitchen. I had to virtually demolish my cooker to get the thing. Very recently she dropped a live mouse at my feet which of course did not hang about and raced off, to this day I know not where. I am wary getting out of bed without a thorough inspection of the place on the floor where i will put my feet as standing on a dead rat is not a great morning routine.

I've been fairly lucky with my two, either there's not much to hunt, they aren't good at it, or aren't bothered.

Only thing I've seen one of them do was catch and eat a baby bat! Literally gobbled it down before I could even get outside.

Has anyone actually, ever, been killed by a cat?

I mean I know it's a meme and all that. But srsly. Death by cat is not really a thing.

I might even start a petition on change.org. Cats are given a really bad name by using this species stereotype. I will write to the ASA and ask if they wouldn't mind banning it, on the grounds that it is engenders prejudice against cats in children.
