Same swapped drugs and wild nights for wife and kids, I got fed up of partying all the time.
Though I've a stag night soon with all my old raving crew from the early 90's !

What a bizarre point of view. It's arguably selfish to have children depending on your reasons.

Either that or either option is a valid choice and in fact nearly all decisions anyone makes are somewhere on the spectrum of selfishness.

edit:

There was also nothing wrong with @BusError's post - correction, the part where he talked about his feelings about having children. The calling you an idiot part was unacceptable.

This is the first time in 6 years I'm questioning a mod on here. Buserror literally called String an idiot to his face and you reckon there's nothing wrong?

Have kids, don't have kids. Do what makes YOU happy in life and let others do what makes them happy in life. Don't agree with it? Not your problem. Move on.

I was referring to his feelings about procreation.
 
You get one life. How you live it is entirely upto you. Some people feel the need to be maternal / paternal and some people don't. No problem with that. It doesn't make you a lesser being for not wanting the same.

The world is turning on its axis the same way everyday. Making the most of it while you can and living your life to the fullest whilst you're here is a nice thing to be able to do.

I was more offended at him referring to my kids as brats and a drain on the planets resources to be honest. Like I said, I don't feel the need to personally insult people I disagree with.
 
Not 40 for a couple of years yet, I hope things get better though, up to now it's just been surviving -eat, sleep, work repeat etc. I never feel like I have a life, worst part is not really having any idea what I'd rather be doing, I know I'd like to work a lot less hours for a start but can't afford to.

I'm actually quite happy apologising about *a personal attack* (edited). Whatever, really.

But he seems to be more offended by the part of my post which is the most critical, so I'm not entirely so sure I should, really.

Kids -- ANY KID -- will be a drain on the planet resources. Like you, me, and everyone else. Refusing that isn't a pretty sharp proof of someone's intelligence to me. He's just reacting like a mamal with a drive to procreate, not a human with a brain.

I need to use the time I get off as teacher to better use....

Leave work on one Friday before half term, get the ferry from Hull over to Rotterdam and hit Germany for a week etc...

Maybe fall in love with a German girl...English women suck :p
