Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

Don't think we will get either of them, Leicester will rape us with his fee and so far it only seems that Roma want Mahrez.

Lemar?? Not sure if that will happen as I think Barca are now in for him so again his fee will be silly high.

If Wenger wants him that bad, then just offer what Monaco want and be done with it. But if Barca are in for him then they will just outbid us for him.
Its the same old with Arsenal isnt it, all summer long all we have heard is 30 mil rejected, 35 rejected, 40 rejected. like you say pay the 50-60 they want for him and be done with it, no other club do this they just go out and buy them.

Maybe now it's happening but go back a fair few yrs and it was exclusively Arsenal that were trying to get players on the cheap. Which in turn meant we lost players to other teams etc
Exactly, going back to last year there was all talk of mkhitaryan coming, Dortmund wanted 25 million, we went in with the usual start at 15 mil, add on 1 mil at a time offers, utd just went out paid 30 million got him straight away

I really hope Coutinho heads to Barca. I had a discussion with numerous Liverpool fans on a sky sports post last week; of course Klopp would never sell him, Coutinho would never leave, he loves the club etc etc. I'd love to be able to remind them of their statements if he leaves :
Furthermore he's a quality player and makes Liverpool a far better team, hence it would improve our chances if he leaves.

.:p

Personally I'd like Liverpool to stick to their guns and Coutinho to honour his contract. He's only 25, Liverpool (should) have Champions League this season and IMO stand a decent chance of challenging for the title of he stays. He could become an even bigger legend that Gerrard if he stays and takes them to the title. He's got time on his hands and most players peak at around 27 as well.

Liverpool won't challenge for the title. They will do well to stay top 4 this year. They will have the odd season when they break into the top 4 but won't stay there consistently.

Where's this report come from? As of a couple of hours ago a few journo's had responded to Duncan Castles rubbish by saying that Liverpool were completely unaware of reports that Barca were travelling to England to negotiate a deal for Coutinho and in fact Barca's reps were in Germany talking to Dortmund for Dembele.

Really? All the talk coming from us and Southampton is neither are likely to happen.

Just like we werent going to get a new goalkeeper and then bought one as mentioned earlier in the thread. Just goes to show that we cant go by anything anyone says :)

Its a feeling in my water that Coutinho will go this transfer window and VVD will come in. Only time will tell how accurate my water is :D

The only way it's possible (but still far from certain) that Coutinho gets sold is if Barca pay mega money and that's far from certain to happen. As for VvD, I think we might be underestimating how unwilling Southampton are to deal with us. Twitter has been linking to a Southampton forum and their fans would rather cut their legs off than sell another player to us. As mental as our fans would be if we sold Coutinho, I think their fans would be far worse if Southampton backed down and sold VvD to us..

IMO, Southampton can be all the unwilling they want, but if their captain refuses point blank to play at all and refuses point blank to join anyone but us, its simple arithmetic, cash in 60 or 70m and sell to Liverpool, or continue paying his wages for the whole season and having the associated bootroom disruption. I think VVD will happen simply because its in everyones interests.

Very few players will refuse to play once the window's closed, especially with a World Cup coming. If Southampton point blank refuse to deal, come the 1st September some sort of apology will be given and he'll be back playing. As I said last night, the other possible problem could be VvD blinks first and accepts a move elsewhere. As much as it's been reported he wants to join us over whoever else, if it gets to the point where the window is about to close and Southampton accept an offer from Chelsea (for example), does he turn it down hoping a deal to Liverpool can happen or will he take it? He takes it imo.
