Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

Very few players will refuse to play once the window's closed, especially with a World Cup coming. If Southampton point blank refuse to deal, come the 1st September some sort of apology will be given and he'll be back playing. As I said last night, the other possible problem could be VvD blinks first and accepts a move elsewhere. As much as it's been reported he wants to join us over whoever else, if it gets to the point where the window is about to close and Southampton accept an offer from Chelsea (for example), does he turn it down hoping a deal to Liverpool can happen or will he take it? He takes it imo.

He's a Dutch centre-back...he could not play for a year and still be the best they have!

Whatever Barca pay for Coutinho will make the amount PSG paid for Neymar seem like a bargain.

Luckily it wont come to that, because he will sign for Liverpool before the window ends :)

Feel free to quote this post when it does !

I think Barca will spend all of the Neymar money + a bit to get Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

If true it will just make our fan Base turn on fsg more than some all ready are as it will be yet another big player for us gone.

No one disputes fsg have invested in us to a degree e.g stadium but over all the transfer we do are just a mess on how there handled. It will also make klopp look daft and undermined and before any one says managers wouldn't openly say player is going it's just as easy to not discuss transfers full stop e.g not discussing them sorry than out right claim won't happen.

Our pr under fsg has been a disaster too. If he goes people assume we just magically get keita and dijk will be lucky to get either as short of a miracle neither will happen

I said it a long time ago that Liverpool will ruin Klopp. I like him and think he is a great manager but he joined the wrong club.

The only way it's possible (but still far from certain) that Coutinho gets sold is if Barca pay mega money and that's far from certain to happen. As for VvD, I think we might be underestimating how unwilling Southampton are to deal with us. Twitter has been linking to a Southampton forum and their fans would rather cut their legs off than sell another player to us. As mental as our fans would be if we sold Coutinho, I think their fans would be far worse if Southampton backed down and sold VvD to us..

As A Southampton fan living in southampton I can very much comfirm this. Most want VvD to suffer the following fates. Listed in order of preference.

1. Rot in the reserves for the remainder of his contract.
2. To be sold to a foreign Club.
3. Sold to any big english club thats not Liverpool.

5 years is a long time to sit in reserves, I doubt you'll sell him to us even if we offered silly money.

If his ambition is champions league etc if push comes to shove he would choose city or Chelsea etc if they came in let's say on last day of window.

It's abit like how we wanted salah but Chelsea got him first time around we couldn't agree a fee left it too late he wanted a move opted for second choice, I sense dijk will end up in similar position

I'd be very surprised if VVD ended up at Liverpool, what with the feeling between the two clubs around the 'tapping up'.

If he had no other suitors I suppose it'd be possible, but City/Chelsea are sniffing as well so would expect him to go to either.

As for Coutinho, I felt it was only a matter of time after the Neymar deal went through, so no surprises that seems to be happening.

I do doubt he will go, my anger at fsg will be based on if they sanction it now why the **** have we no one in as a replacement. Excluding salah we have not improved the team anywhere close to enough.

So, if he goes, who do we dream of to try to replace him? The few names that come to mind are Gotze or Sigurdsson. I'd love Draxler but can't see PSG letting him go.

Edit: for clarity, I'm not saying that any of those players are necessarily good enough to replace him

Edit 2: Kagawa?

More edits: oh, seems like Gotze isn't exactly the most healthy payer around at present. Poor chap

Coutinho is just the latest click bait now that the Neymar deal is done. Because really, who cares where Dembele goes?

He'll be a Liverpool player when the window shuts.
