Hard to tell, if the ball takes a touch off the Liverpool player as it is struck then he isn't offside.

For me, though, it looked offside. They'd need to see if it takes a slight touch off the defender as it is hit.

Its still offside if it takes a deflection lol

Liverpool didn't seem to relax on the ball, it was all rat-a-tat football. Great for the fans as they are always on the front foot but today they didn't really take time with possession of the ball.

Perhaps a change to 3 at the back and move the full backs into a wing back position to try and condense the midfield and win the ball back earlier would be more beneficial.

Playing more of our awful defenders sounds even worse.

Wij impressively did nothing until giving up at the end

The problem seems to be Klopp more than FSG. They've said they'll keep Coutinho, despite receiving an offer most would expect them to accept, and allowed us to go after VVD and Keita for 60 million plus each. The money seems to be available.

Hmm dunno about that, but both are currently failing the club, done nothing but go backwards over the summer

Their goal was offside but officials won't get everything right and if you can't defend crosses into the box you're going to get punished. Any time a team gets a corner or free-kick around the edge of the area you almost expect us to concede. Wijnaldum should have done better at the front post but the question should be why do we have somebody that's not strong in the air in such a crucial defensive position? Same story for the first goal - we've got Firmino in the central position along the 6 yard box.
Great performance from TAA today, one of our standout players.
The decision to take him off seemed strange at the time and it ultimately backfired on us. Changing your back 4 at that stage in the game is always a gamble - if we wanted to bring Gomez on then bring him on for Mane and tell him to sit in front of TAA, not replace him. First thing Gomez done was give away a needless free-kick that led to their goal.

I think Moreno and Redknapp swapped brains - he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. He can't seem to understand that if VvD signed, he would be in Matip's or Lovren's position, not Firmino's. Liverpool's problem is aside from their 2 cb's, they have no other players in their squad that are strong in the air. Unless we sign a 6 foot 4 DM, fullback or striker we're always going to struggle defending set-plays.

Being strong in the air means **** all if we can't even get into the right position

Which players weren't in the right positions? Our problem for the 2 goals wasn't people not in position but the players in position not doing their job. Firmino is neither great in the air nor does he have the instincts of a defender - when the cross comes in he doesn't know what to do. Wijnaldum at the front post is the same story - in years gone by Gerrard was in that position and he heads it clear.

Look at teams like Spurs or Utd, they could field teams with 5 or 6 players comfortably over 6 foot and also strong in the air. That's not to say we should go that way too - we've taken the decision to have smaller, quicker, more technical players in tight areas but a consequence of that is that we're going to always struggle from set-plays.
Is Mignolet first choice keeper still or is Klaven going to be?
They both suck so not sure it makes a difference.
If Klavan starts in goal I'm giving up on football.
