No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Started playing again last night after not touching it 4 months (started other games rather than being disappointed).
New game and almost missed dinner.
Very cold planet and no Herideum (or whatever its called) in the area after several hours of wandering around.
Noticed new resources that I mined so will eventually find out what they are for.

Cheapest I can see this game right now is cdkeys at about £20. Where was it £16? Anyone got a spare copy for sale?

IIRC it was £15.99 on Steam and GOG, although that has ended now.

Space games aren't usually appealing to me but after playing this for only 7 hours or so I reckon that even at £20 I would have got VFM. Whether I would have paid that to find out tho I'm not sure, but that is more to do with the history of this game and that with Steam it is easy enough to get a refund with their 2 hours / 14 days policy.

If I stop spending time adding and searching for mods I might improve my game playing.....!

.... I do wish there was a single place for mods and it worked similar to that of Cities Skylines.

Even at 100 FOV I feel like I'm playing through a magnifying glass. There a way to up it more?

Gun models are small though, they got that right. Destiny was a double sinner for me, awful FOV and gun models the size of battleships, this is bearable but more FOV is certainly welcome if it's possible.

I was wondering this too I wouldn't mind a larger fov, I do feel the gun is too close to the screen too. Wouldn't mind having the view pulled back a bit.

Still following the quest, it's got to a base building part now.

I don't think the game is super well optimised which is a shame. How much negative impact do all these mods have on performance if any?

11 hours in and I am really enjoying it. I can see it having longevity but would defo have not bought it before Atlas was released.

I see it is back up to 39.99 on steam and 34.99 Playstation.

Still not quite sure what is going on but will get there.

Bit mixed with mods - some kind of brute force past things in the game which can have in some cases bigger performance impact others actually make the game run a bit better or have no impact at all.

these 2 posts are just ridiculous. it was so obvious why the game got bad reviews. Do you purposefully avoid all the reason given a thousand and 1 times over that you can't see why it got bad reviews? It's not even like this is a hard equation to work out. Read the reviews. Listen to one of the many criticisms of the game that were made back then. youtube the video with suan murrays lies.

the game was promised to have say 100 features. it was delivered with 10, it now has say 55, and you're acting like everyone is dumb for saying negative things about the game that had 10% of what was supposed to be in the game.

people don't moan at other early access games. AAA priced game, sold as complete, that barely made as much content as early access, deserves all the negativity it got. add on the marketing from suan murrey, until release date where he just was silent for ages, this company was poor at customer relations.

What players fail to understand, is the game was primarily an exploration sandbox game. That is exactly what they gave at release. The fact most players want thier hands holding to play anything, is really what the backlash was about.
Plus survival was in at the start, it was luck of the draw which planet a player would start on. My first planet was poisonous, a died wihin the first few minutes.
The later 'survival' mode is exactly what we had at start, only with things subtracted and added depending on item/gameplay. There is virtually no difference from the survival first out on release and the current survival.
Creative, they didn't really need.
Permadeath is a good idea, but not what I would play.

NMS released and got backlash because players didn't know what to do with a sandbox game. That is a very common problem with sandbox games. Too many players need to be led around with thier hands held. That is not what you get with a decent sandbox, make your own game with what is provided.

sorry but you really are talking out of your ***. it seems you've ignored pretty much every single bit of criticism towards this game at release once again, and have made up your own story as to why people complained. I don't get what part of the brain does this and why, because so what if the masses didn't like a game you liked. don't belittle the thousands of views with your own baseless condescending put downs.

That's a lovely lil ship. I'll take pics of my lil trooper in a bit.

NMS got backlash because a lot of what was promised doesn't and didn't exist even now.

You're just as bad.....

I agree that the the initial price was way off & the initial content not up to the hype, but the way you're making it out, the world was conned.
Step into the real world please.

Has this not already been covered in previous posts?

I like the new additions and its closer to what was advertised. I'm quite happy that its not multiplayer and hope it won't get to that point.

Found a ship with 45 slots. Only 11 active but it was better than my starting ship.

It will get to that point, as the recent update was effectively the foundation for which multiplayer can be expanded upon. I for one welcome it, but there's nothing stopping you from playing solo.

With regards to your ship, repairing the damaged slots will prove very costly indeed. The ship I found had 48 slots, with 26 of them damaged. I ended up exchanging it for the A Class fighter seen in the previous screenshot.

Is it true that the costs to repair the slots increase with each slot that you have repaired...?

I have only just started playing this and did find a better ship, but had very little units to buy it at the time. Considering how this is an exploration game I can find and reveal the names of sectors but somehow never seem to be able to mark places, like where that ship was, to then easily find it again...! Maybe it is because I'm new to the game but charting, tagging and mapping etc, as well as scanning, seems to be a little hit and miss.

The cost increases substantially with each repair. I tested it and slots went from 20K to as much as 150K before I decided it wasn't worthwhile and reloaded the save, lol.

I take it that the value of the ship does not increase by that cost to make it worth while, as you could do it over time.?

can you crash the ship yet? :D

i'll be blunt when this launched i thought it was ****** hilarious....basically a mobile clicker game (albeit with niceish graphics) with "upgrades" "rewards" "space" (haha yeah), "exploration"(lololo) naming random **** and **** me the most godawful monsterish RNG freak creature design you will ever see this side of the galaxy.
