No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Found a downed freighter last night, right in front of another planet. That was a beautiful sight. I'm not sure what mod I have is making flora MASSIVE. I will take a pic and post it, it gave me the willies last night.

Edit: OK, it's not flora, but "plant like objects"

I have a star/planet etc 20Ly away, how do I get there? I tried making a custom waypoint it shows on the map but not in game.

So how is this game now compared to what was promised on launch? Held off and bought it just now, doubt I'll play for a while yet but 15.99 is probably the cheapest it's going to be for a good while.

Solved, found a new ship! My first one. And now can warp :D

Graphically it's better. There is quests/missions now, much better UI for example scanning creatures and the galaxy map is improved.

Took me a while to figure out. When you launch it, right mouse button allows you to move freely. With button prompts at the bottom. Mark a destination, select to warp with F etc. I'm on Skyrim atm, but can launch NMS in a bit if you need more help.

Oh cool thanks I shall have another look this evening :) appreciate it

Right - treated myself to this at the discounted price and rolling my sleeves up to give it a go. One question - is there a working mod which reduces the 'garishness' of space. It looks like there were mods (like 'Deep Space' or 'Immersive Space') but it looks like they've not been updated to work with the current version of the game...

Wow, having this on PC is so much better than the PS4. I can change the FOV! <3

I like what they've done with the ship combat in this update, seems easier which is good as I always dreaded leaving planets in Survival Mode. You just knew you'd be ambushed at the start, where your only weapon was an old spud gun.
Playing on 360 pad, and haven't noticed anything up with the movement/looking about as mentioned on the other page.
Ships able to fly even lower to ground now? Feels like the game would let me crash it if I wanted, but didn't want to try...

Think for this new run I'll stick to the starting planet until I've got some decent upgrades and a good few Korvax words learned. Plenty of zinc, plutonium, heridium and thamium on it, a world first. I'm looking forward to see how the new story type stuff works out, but the gameplay has been made more solid.

If anyone was having the aim acceleration issue a Dev looked in to it on a Steam discussion a few of us were having sharing this issue. They found it wasnt related to the game, so i thought i would try something that i had to do for another game months back, for a different reason.

and its down to a setting in steam.

From Steam, click Steam in the top left and then Settings.

Then Controller tab on the bottom left

Click General Controller Settings

A window will open with a list of different controller types.

I Unchecked 'Generic Gamepad Configuration Support'

and Checked 'Xbox Configuration support'

Launch the game

Profit.

(*edit, i dont think you need to uncheck Generic, just make sure Xbox is checked. i have both checked now and it works fine)

The reason there is a turnaround is, players went with the crowds, as they always do, when it was first released. Instead of staying with the game and seeing for themselves. The game was solid back then and is still a solid fun game. HG have pandered a little to the moaners, with updates, but its easy to appease people like those mentioned.

Why the sudden love for this game? Reviews have got so much better on Steam. Seems like there were hundreds, nay, thousands of children throwing their toys out the pram when it was released, like a thunderious avalanche. Now they have all stopped having their funny five minutes and stopped sending their death threats (really mature gaming community). Are things are back on track for this company/game?

Its such a massive turn around of gamers opinion that part of my brain is thinking Hello Games have spent all their game sales cash on buying good reviews!

these 2 posts are just ridiculous. it was so obvious why the game got bad reviews. Do you purposefully avoid all the reason given a thousand and 1 times over that you can't see why it got bad reviews? It's not even like this is a hard equation to work out. Read the reviews. Listen to one of the many criticisms of the game that were made back then. youtube the video with suan murrays lies.

the game was promised to have say 100 features. it was delivered with 10, it now has say 55, and you're acting like everyone is dumb for saying negative things about the game that had 10% of what was supposed to be in the game.

people don't moan at other early access games. AAA priced game, sold as complete, that barely made as much content as early access, deserves all the negativity it got. add on the marketing from suan murrey, until release date where he just was silent for ages, this company was poor at customer relations.

Spot on, and don't forget that when everyone was raising the issues with it he refused to talk to anyone until 4 months after it released. Since then his last no mans sky news was this week.

Yeah I was one of those not happy with it, and now I feel its got enough content to make me want to play it. Overall though the steam reviews are still mostly negative, and I can see why people are starting to change their minds.

I even recommended it to someone who was asking if it was worth the £16 today, which I thought I'd never do, but yeah saying that the entire community except you was wrong is a bit of a silly thing to be saying!

Even at 100 FOV I feel like I'm playing through a magnifying glass. There a way to up it more?

Gun models are small though, they got that right. Destiny was a double sinner for me, awful FOV and gun models the size of battleships, this is bearable but more FOV is certainly welcome if it's possible.
