I thought the night king was impervious to fire?

it isn't too clear, while they seemed to walk through some small flames when attacking the cave Bran was in that could just be seen as them being a bit more badass than the undead types who were standing back from those flames

Dragon fire is 100 times hotter I believe, and possesses certain distinct qualities that would doubtless effect Mr Big Blue and his minions.

Dunno if it's already been posted, but did anyone catch Jon Snow's sword opening it's eye when he popped up out of the frozen lake!?!

I certainly didn't!

WTF does that signify, apart from the not insignificant fact that his sword is alive?

As for the theory on Bran being the Night King, I just don't buy it. I like it and I think there's almost enough evidence there to support it, but I think it's hugely unlikely.

Why would the three eyed raven not have seen it already? Why would Bran have been missing from an entire season if he was so important? Why would he need to warg into the Knight King upon creation, instead of one of the children? Plus, time travel is sooooo hard to do right without seeming like a cop out.

I think it's likely there's more to the walkers then we know (there definitely is in the books), but who knows. Maybe the show just wants to keep them as this big bad ambiguous enemy.

I can't imagine that it's anything more then water or reflection off the opal inside. There are rumours that Jon could end up wielding Lightbringer, but I can't see how this points to that...

Gendry running back wasn't really a stretch - say they made 20 miles from the wall, that's doable. The raven getting back to Dragonstone over one night is probably the biggest stretch we've seen but if that stops you enjoying a Dragon cavalry rescue you're probably watching the wrong show.

LOL, when a show is 66 episodes into its run I don't think a "you're watching the wrong show" defence carries much weight

Even the Director Alan Taylor admitted about the Gendry-Raven-Dragon timeline "so I think we were straining plausibility a little bit, but I hope the story’s momentum carries over some of that stuff”. Well, for me it stepped over the line this week, that's all.

Wow, didn't notice that on first viewing. I wonder if Bran is able to see through the sword's 'eyes'? That might shortcut a few of the timelines issues ;)

I thought we were clear that the Night King was one of the First Men the Children of the Forest changed into weapons in their unsuccessful war/defense against the First Men? Although the show may not show it, I'd have more sympathy for Bran inspiring Bran the Builder or making the Mad King mad.

I can't say I noticed Jon's sword but reading about there's a suggestion the gem/jewel used for the eye runs through the hilt. So it is white because of the snow then turns dark as Jon appears behind it.

I don't know how true that is but may be worth going back to Jon trying to give the sword to Jorah or any other close ups of the hilt to see if it changes colour.

Ooh, didn't think of that!

I was thinking more along the lines of Elric of Melnibone's sword, Stormbringer, Jon's being able to drink the souls of the white walkers! :D

Or it could be that! :P

Make your own mind up...

The suggestions seem to be that Bran became trapped within his body, and that Bran has been spiritually and mentally skewered by TNK. It's allowed TNK to attain his powers like 'the sight' and his ability to warg (though the latter has yet to be totally proven). This is actually backed up by Jojen and TTER telling him that to remain in the past or someones body for too long will see him trapped there.

No it's not the shadow. Before Jon emerges the sword is laying there and the eye is all white. As his hand thumps down on the ice it's as if the sword wakes up, the eye blinks open and there's an iris.

The pommel was made by smiths at castle black, it's not 'alive'.

It used to have a bear head (house Mormont) but it was damaged in the fire in the Lord Commander's Tower which 'killed' the two wights so Jeor had it redone for Jon in the likeness of Ghost.
