I think Ned Stark didn't actually die - who we saw die in S1 was Benjen and thats why he went missing for so long. They had to spend time to gather the magic to revive him and this is why he was a wight.

So Ned Stark will show up soon.

That makes no sense.

Also the ravens we saw earlier in the season are actually part of one giant bird, they form a huge crow in the sky. It's an ancient nights watch technique, and also where they got their name. It will play a key part in the battle with the white walkers.

I'll have what he's having.

I have actually seen a theory that says ned isn't dead. that wasn't ned you saw getting beheaded..... it was a faceless man. ned wouldn't dishonour himself and proclaim Joffrey the true heir.... faceless men want something from the starks so rescue him/kidnap him....blah blah blah. one of them takes his place in the cells, confesses and gets beheaded. jakin was there as a backup or to meet up with the other faceless man as they took the black. Is a line in the books and maybe the show about how the bones the Lannister's returned seemed to be from a smaller man as well. was more to it but that's all I can remember. some people still cant believe he's dead.
