New speeding fines

Yes, it is. They also have 2 Meganes, 2 Focii and a 308. I've lost count of how many times they've flashed me since I've been here, they always put themselves in spots for maximum revenue generation safety. Detection is either via radar hidden behind the front numberplate or camera mounted on the rear parcel shelf.

Is it not affected by the angle of the rear window?

Apparently not, they exist all over France and to my knowledge people haven't successfully challenged them. They're not a lot of use around here though as loads of people have Monaco / foreign plates which they can't send fines to.

It's been refused by the commission in Monaco so it won't affect anyone on Monaco plates. It's also highly likely to not actually work for UK plates given the French don't currently have the correct systems in place despite the fact it comes into force in a few days. A solicitor aquaintance of mine also suspects the tickets you eventually receive will be the similar to early PPC ones i.e. unenforceable.

If anything does come of it I'll let you all know but I highly doubt it. Either way it's still a lot better than getting points as you would in the UK.

I never realised that from 2008 1mph over a speed limit could get you 3 points.

Until this kicked off i always thought it was 10% +2mph.
I have a 20yr old Focus so the Speedo isn't going to be capable of getting within 1mph without GPS speed or driving under the limit.

This was the ACPO guidelines to guide police officers as to when to bother. issuing a ticket But its not the same as the law, and the law says that 1 mph above is speeding. But that's not to say that every speed camera is configured to issue tickets at 31.

Anyone know if the UK sends out fines to foreign registered vehicles? It says on the gov.uk website that a notice of intended prosecution must be sent within 14 days, but obviously post outside UK takes longer and in any event they may just not bother following up.

Officially yes, but in reality it's still a total nightmare chasing anyone in a forign country for anything if they don't cooperate. So most of the time they CBA, or it just never goes anywhere.

Pretty much, thats why the ACPO guidelines on 10%+2 exist, its not worth their time trying for less.
