Boy removed from school in transgender rights row

They're christians... they believe in marriage between a man and woman. Thats why they chose the school.

The law contradicts their religion. Its a choice between not discriminating against the trans kid (or their parents), and respecting the religious beliefs of others. They obviously decided gender trumped religion. Which is par for the course in 2017.

What I don't get is why that kid was even at a religious school to begin with. The religion itself discriminates against them. What are they gonna do, ban religion next?

All of you lot who are saying that it's okay because kilts, the existence of the kilt is not a reason to justify this kind of thing, this kind of thing is a reason to ban Scotland, finally some payback for Bannockburn!

I'm not entirely serious, let the kid wear what he wants. The parents seem like the attention seeking type.

All of the 12 or so nearest primary schools to me (approx 8 mile radius) are tied to a religion. It's often pretty hard not to send your kids to a religious school.

Thanks to the CofE school, my son (aged 7) believes in god. He's the only one in the house who does. Hoping he'll grow out of it but, heck, it doesn't really matter if he doesn't - as long as it doesn't lead him down the sort of intolerant path you see from the parents in this story.

not sure the bible was written BC.
U wot m8?

The bits of the bible relevant to the discussion were most certainly written BC. Maybe not 6000 BC, but they certainly recount events in that vicinity.

The bible itself says Jesus was reading the Old Testament law aged 12, so unless you think they only bothered to write it down in those preceding 12 years, you're clearly wrong.

Unless of course the bible was only written last week and they just said Jesus was reading it. It's a conspiracy.

Problem is the more modern translations often depart somewhat from what was written in the original Hebrew, etc. but yeah the Old Testament books were mostly written a few hundred centuries BC and some of what they talk about goes back 1000s of years or the whole creation thing.

As I understand it, the parents are Christians, the kid who was wearing the skirt was doing just that, wearing a skirt.

The parents have no problem with a girl wearing trousers I might add, it's just the boy wearing a skirt they have problems with because 'it's not what boys wear'.

For me this has nothing to do with transgender just societies ridiculous idea that some clothes are for girls and some are for boys, it's always seemed bonkers to me, yes the genders might want/like slightly different cuts to accomodate different things but beyond that surely it's just personal choice!

Well, I mean - isn't it the illiberal parents kicking up a fuss that's causing the problem/complication here?

Not really. The complication is nobody knows wtf to call this kid that cant decide if it's a Jonny or a Sally.

So long as your bits are covered I really don't see that we should have to get so excited over who wears what.

Which begs the question why a Church of England school even allows it? if the church are going to support things like homosexuality and transgenderism then they've completely undermined what they stand for (Christian teachings based upon the bible).

Can you imagine this sort of stuff happening in an Islamic school and if it did what the reaction would be be? sorry to bring Islam into it but at least they stand by their beliefs and don't cave into lefty political demands.

You might have a point if the C of E had a particular stance on any of of these issues... but they don't. Never really have.

Because they legally have to. And no, this crap wouldn't fly in an islamic school but they tend to be rather backwards!
