Pewdiepie racism

It's amazing how much the single use of a word has allowed people to gaze into his soul and pluck out every prejudice he may think :p

People have read far too much into this event. Some of the claims so in depth but based on so little, that it says more about how the poster thinks more than how Pewdiepie thinks.

Pretty much this.

If we dont' have an adored tv thread then we certainly don't want a pewdepie thread either. Stop giving this oxygen thief airtime. Close this thread.

I don't understand how people are not factoring in his level of influence when considering whether and how much he should be vilified for his actions?

what are you going to do, send him to prison?

Fine him?

He used a slur, not incite racial hatred. He is getting slammed by the media as it is and every time this happens his sponsors and collaborators respond fairly harshly. Last time it was made clear during the video that he meant no offence and it was to show that people would do anything for (5$?), he lost loads of sponsorship, was dropped by Disney and had season 2 of his show cancelled, which was already filmed and edited.

As far as i am concerned, if the content is considered unacceptable for younger viewers but not older, then it is the guardians responsibility to police that. This word has probably cost him a lot money already.

Its not complicated here, the N word isn't acceptable, its not SJW or liberal or an indication of an overly PC society, its been unacceptable for a long long time. Just like many racial slurs.

Because there is a difference between using a normal offensive word and using a word which is offensive to an entire race. Unless you're suggesting you're fine with people using historically racist words?

I'm guessing you would also find nothing wrong if rather than the N word he was shouting "****** few letters short of Pakistan"
there's no difference at all. it's a word that supposed to insult and offend, so you use it to offend and insult someone, the entire point is the word is to insult, whether it's an individual-specific word or not.

So you would willingly use racist language to insult someone?

That's where you and I are different then. I don't need to insult someones race to insult them as a person.

It is more PC/SJW BS though isn't it!

Yes being racist is bad, we all know and understand this. The whole SJW/PC side comes from the Campo Santo guy making a big public out cry and then saying he is going to contact others to cut PDP off.

Yes he can be offended by it but what he should have done is contact PDP direct but instead he went full SJW on Twitter and decided not only was he going to prevent him from using anything else they create in his videos (fair enough) he said he was going to actively contact others to make sure they do the same to him. That's pretty much being a SJW.

It's all too much. This colloquialism for Negro has become "the n word" and discussed with ludicrously more insight and faux outrage than it could possibly deserve. With the coloured population rising exponentially and with thousands of blacks risking life and limb to illegally enter the UK, is it not prudent to suggest that the subjects of the description are not really bothered, and the outrage comes from so called SJW's and the overtly politically correct word police? And for someone to suggest Prince Charles and his family affectionately and openly calling an old Indian friend "Sooty" is an outrage, well, it is yet another demonstration of how those who call the government dictators have very dual standards. The same goes for the colloquial for Pakistanis. I don't get all in a huff if I am called a Pom or if I hear someone speak of Japs, Ozzies or whatever. People need to desensitise themselves and accept the English language cannot and should not be castrated to the politically correct desires of a minority. It was only in the sixties my Rupert annual had the phrase "Rupert saw a little group of coons running towards the beach"., and in the seventies family viewing time comedy programmes were awash with similar harmless phrases for foreigners that have suddenly now been made as taboo as black magic, witchcraft and sorcery were in times of yore. People need to get a realistic grip on their priorities.

Did he use a racist word: Yes
Is he a racist: No

I don't think the left has quite grasped that calling someone who knows they aren't racist a racist doesn't cut any mustard these days.

Not a fan of pewdiepie (happen to think he is a bit of a douche) but a racist? Lol, hilarious. Saying one racist word doesn't make him a racist. Shows just how far down the brain drain is starting, the histrionics certainly came out... I would pick the toys back up and put them in the pram but it ain't my kid

That's because Chris, we have the switch in the brain to differentiate between reason and feeling.

Some people on twitter have been calling for his death I hear. Lol someone should die for saying a word

i would use whatever word i think would have the greatest effect. it applies to the person not the race. i have black and Indian friends, i have a black guy's art tattooed on me. just because i would call a woman a bitch doesn't mean i hate all canines.

So you'd willingly use a racist term to offend someone? Regardless if you have friends from other ethnic groups, that's pretty disgusting. I'd never dream of directly trying to insult someone based on their race. Guessing you also see no problems of people at football games chanting monkey noises or throwing bananas at black players.. seeing as they just want to cause the greatest amount of insult.

You sound like a delightful person.

"I don't know what the big deal is, kids programs were full of racist language when I was young and look at what a bitter racist old man I turned into"

lol

I can't honestly recall ever needing to draw upon knowledge of intentionally offensive language as an adult.

Is this what being a millennial is all about?

Well apparently when you want to insult someone, targeting race is completely fine to some users here. I'd like to think i'm quite a laid back and chilled out person but even when I do get angry I'm more likely to call someone a Richard-head or drop a C bomb.
