Pewdiepie racism

i would use whatever word i think would have the greatest effect. it applies to the person not the race. i have black and Indian friends, i have a black guy's art tattooed on me. just because i would call a woman a bitch doesn't mean i hate all canines.

Do you use the word when gaming?

Some words just shouldn't be used. We've grown as a culture and such insults are a relic of a less enlightened age. Using them is ignorant, racist or both, and whilst I don't think that PDP is a raving racist, I do think he's probably ignorant enough to make racist jokes with his friends and think nothing of it.

I don't see anyone calling for prison. Leave it up to the professionals to decide what is against the law. You sound like you feel sorry for him that he is receiving any form of backlash whatsoever, considering he suffered following his prior.

I hardly come across as feeling sorry for him. I simply listed that the sponsors are the ones that deliver the real blows and gave examples of how harshly he was dealt with last time. Some sponsors will drop him this time round but that's about it. It's hardly newsworthy. Not everyone needs to have an extreme defend or attack opinion on the matter.

The point made is that there really is no need to bring out the pitchforks and call for the media to vilify him further than what has happened.

Some people on here are reading far too much into the situation. There's no need to try and give a psychoanalysis on him over a racial slurr said over a live stream. It's laughable that this gets this much attention.

It's all too much. This colloquialism for Negro has become "the n word" and discussed with ludicrously more insight and faux outrage than it could possibly deserve. With the coloured population rising exponentially and with thousands of blacks risking life and limb to illegally enter the UK, is it not prudent to suggest that the subjects of the description are not really bothered, and the outrage comes from so called SJW's and the overtly politically correct word police? And for someone to suggest Prince Charles and his family affectionately and openly calling an old Indian friend "Sooty" is an outrage, well, it is yet another demonstration of how those who call the government dictators have very dual standards. The same goes for the colloquial for Pakistanis. I don't get all in a huff if I am called a Pom or if I hear someone speak of Japs, Ozzies or whatever. People need to desensitise themselves and accept the English language cannot and should not be castrated to the politically correct desires of a minority. It was only in the sixties my Rupert annual had the phrase "Rupert saw a little group of coons running towards the beach"., and in the seventies family viewing time comedy programmes were awash with similar harmless phrases for foreigners that have suddenly now been made as taboo as black magic, witchcraft and sorcery were in times of yore. People need to get a realistic grip on their priorities.

SJW ALERT! You cant call people coloured, its racist. For obvious reasons.

Just because you are old and remember a time when racism was ok does not make it ok today. Things move on, you need to.

It's getting boring. Turned into some jealousy, money driven, revenge hate campaign.
Less than a few weeks ago people were fighting on the streets in America and 1 murdered .

One idiot slips an nword while playing a simulated war game. Instalty regrets it.
He's not inciting a hate campaign, lynching for the kkk.

Please take it in context.

It is more PC/SJW ******** though isn't it!
Pretty much, I think this may be a case of generation gap combined with technophobia. A lot of older and/or technologically illiterate people lack understanding of what type of language is used on the internet, it would probably give them nightmare if they ever saw a Youtube/reddit/4chan comment page or logged onto a videogame with voice chat lol.

It's one thing to say "this isn't acceptable in society", but the thing is, it is, anyone thinking that simply doesn't engage with society enough to know it.

It's the only stream of PewDiePie's I hadn't actually watched and yet to actually see it all thanks to work but saw the snippet of him apologizing afterwards.
Without defending him, considering he uses the word NIBBA almost all the time (thanks reddit), guess it could be a slip of the tongue considering it's rage inducing.

Doesn't make it any better, but the shouts from everyone saying he's racist is hilarious.

So you'd willingly use a racist term to offend someone? Regardless if you have friends from other ethnic groups, that's pretty disgusting. I'd never dream of directly trying to insult someone based on their race. Guessing you also see no problems of people at football games chanting monkey noises or throwing bananas at black players.. seeing as they just want to cause the greatest amount of insult.

You sound like a delightful person.
you say that like you think your opinion means something to me.

It's one thing to say "this isn't acceptable in society", but the thing is, it is, anyone thinking that simply doesn't engage with society enough to know it.

But society and a Youtube/reddit/4chan comment page aren't the same thing. There are much fewer restrictions online and people make comments without a thought because of it. That doesn't make the use of unacceptable behaviour acceptable.

If he had said it the way loads of people seem to online these days ("what's up ma *****" for example) it'd still be bad, but certainly not in this way. He clearly used it as an insult and way too casually as well which leads me to believe it's a commonly used word in his vocabulary. What an idiot.

you say that like you think your opinion means something to me.

I couldn't care less what you think of my opinion. It's a public forum and we are free to question one another, are we not? I just find your stance of seeing it perfectly OK to use racist language as deplorable and I hope that if you do have children you wouldn't be telling them that it is acceptable behaviour. Otherwise we'll be seeing version 2 of that Millwall kid again.

i was about to say this!
using language like this in 'real life' will get you sacked.

I agree with this completely. Young men are growing up these days being able to say the most outrageous things hidden behind a veil of anonymity. Some get so desensitised to the language that they begin to believe that what they're saying is normal and acceptable.

And then they get a shock when they say these things in public.

What was racist about it?

It's so far removed from any racist context, it's silly.
lol really? How can you say that?!

I'm sure the intended angle of his humour was to say something completely unrelated to what was going on (and I'm a big fan of silly / surreal humour), but if you're going to direct "****ing ******" at someone that has caused you grief then that is a smoking gun, bang-to-rights, a racist comment. The N word (generally unacceptable since at least the 1990s) is being used as an acceptable form of insult.

Whether he actually harbours deep-rooted ill feelings against black people or Jews is another matter entirely but at the very least he's shown himself as being insensitive towards black people by making a racist comment, in which case he is perhaps more of a moron than he is racist.

But to say there is nothing racist about it is ridiculous :o
