Nope, was pictured there.

He didnt come up on stage and present anything which is the norm for Johnny.

The iphone 8 64GB is only £24 a month for 2 years depending on deposit which i think is a nice and easy monthly price, my sim only plan that i keep swapping between phones is only £15 a month on Three.

I have an S7 Edge now and would like to move back to Iphone. Any point going for the 8 or wait for the X?

Looking at the battery stats, my s7 edge has a 3600mAh battery compared to the 1821mAh of the iphone 8?

I also have the S7 Edge, hate the thing looking forward to going back to IOS, getting my 8 on Friday!

Passed on the X as the notch and face ID is a nonsense...

I'm genuinely interested in why you want to move back to an iPhone? I have been looking at the Samsung S8 as the wife has one and it seems like a really good phone, however I have never owned an Android phone so the OS all seems kinda alien to me.

Posts like the above always leave me puzzled. I have both the iPhone 7 and the S7 and TBH I find there's little to differentiate one OS from the other. It's just like a replay of MacOS and Windows 10 - both great systems, nothing to choose between them. Perhaps I'm missing something?

If you've a modicum of intelligence I doubt it would take you more than an hour to get used to Android, see my post 487.

Im concerned that the X will sell out fast (I'm hoping I'm a lucky person), and then the supply of these will be very slow putting the idea of me upgrading in jeopardy

Ah yes, stock problems are sounding likely.

No it won't, Jony Ive must have had a day off when that thing was signed off...

Steve Jobs would never have let that design out the front door!

The reaction to the design is mostly positive. The X seems to have the wow factor that will cause the general public to buy it (even if it's not really that amazing in reality).

At a general level they are both competent, but like with anything there are advantages and disadvantages that means people prefer one over the other.

This is a tech enthusiast forum so obviously people will detail the differences, and as a general rule, people who aren't clued up tend to find iOS easier as it's more straightforward and harder to mess up.

The disappointing thing with the iPhone 8 is that the phone is heavier than the 7 and the battery is actually smaller than the one fitted in the 7. Given the 7's battery life wasn't great the new 8 will be no better. The fact it has fast charging is irrelevant - I don't want to be charging my phone with a top up charge just to get through the day.

The battery is smaller but the chip is more efficient so the battery life is about the same as it was in the 7.

I'd imagine the battery is smaller due to the wireless charging bit added inside?

For those on iOS already, remind me, if you take a lot of photos but have small storage on your device, when they are synced to iCloud, can they be deleted from the device but still be accessable?

Similar feature to my Pixel where it will 'clean up' photos from my device if they have been uploaded but I can still access them without them clogging up my device.

Does anyone know if you buy the iPhone 8 with a 1 month contract from cpw is the phone locked?

Looking for the cheapest unlocked phone.

Pre ordered an 8 silver 256 gig yesterday at my local O2 store it came up on the screen for the 22nd September fingers crossed :)

Cheers all

I had android (top spec) sony phones for the last 8 years and took a plunge with a used iphone 6 a few months ago. The thing with it is, it really depends if you just use your phone as a phone / email / camera or somehow for much more. I generally use it as that, camera is important, email and the phone. The iphone just does it and all very well. I found android was a pain in the back side getting the right programs installed and so on. The iphone does it with fluidity where as android needs a so many things to make it work the same.

The other thing was the storage options, i have 3000 photos on my phone and my sony would just bog down loading them as i went back to older ones as it had to use the memory card, the Iphone loads as quick as you can scroll. The iPhone's email system is better connected to the phone, so if i search for a name and i dont have the number saved it looks in the emails for the same thing. I am sure android can perhaps do this but will need setting up.

I have also found there are many more accessory for the iphones, for example I have a charger case from belkin which while clunky allows me to go all day without worrying about battery life, sony and other phones do not have this

I miss a couple of widgets on the home screen but that is all from android.

Thank you for taking the time to explain all of the above. This is one of my main concerns in going over to android ie the fluidity that iOS has. When ever I use my wife's S8 there seems to be many different ways to do the same thing and some things needed more steps to get to the end goal compared to what it would take on iOS. I am not sure if it's just my unfamiliarity with the platform or that's how the platform is.

In terms of how the S8 looks and performs it seems to be really nice and much ahead of my iPhone 6. The camera is infinitely better especially in low light, the screen is beautiful and a perfect size for my needs. It's really only the OS which i have reservations about.

Maybe I am looking too much into it as I really only use my phone for surfing, emails, fitness app, podcasts, calls and messaging. Nothing really demanding and my iPhone 6 is more than capable, I am just bored of looking at the same form factor for three years running and would like a bigger screen. I was going to upgrade last year but apple didn't change the design so I didn't make the move.

Exactly, which isn't enough. I would have been far more impressed with the iPhone launch if Apple had simply said - the 8 is very similar to last years 7 but what we have done is greatly improve the battery life of the new 8.

iOS just works. I miss that from my Pixel, hence coming back.

What? have you realised how trite that sounds? iOS just works, Android also 'just works' (I have both). Are we never to move on from these ridiculous puerile statements? Good workmen never blame their tools.

It's difficult to know where to start with your post. You say you have used Android for the last eight years but you struggled to find the right programmes to use. Have you not heard of Gmail, Play Music, Google Photos, etc. etc. (which btw is a much better app for images than 'photos'). Why would you keep all those pictures on your phone when you get free storage for them with Google Drive? I have an iPhone but I have every google app possible running on it as I find them better to use than Apple's. I hate Apple mail and never used it on my iMac never mind with iOS.
