What? have you realised how trite that sounds? iOS just works, Android also 'just works' (I have both). Are we never to move on from these ridiculous puerile statements? Good workmen never blame their tools.

I agree it's a very vague and 'Apple' thing to say, but there's a degree of logic behind it. I don't find Android difficult to use at all but it's not unusual to find people struggling with it (they do with iOS too I suppose). Certain skins make Android harder to use than it needs to be though, it's not at all uniform unless you keep buying the same brand devices.

It's difficult to know where to start with your post. You say you have used Android for the last eight years but you struggled to find the right programmes to use. Have you not heard of Gmail, Play Music, Google Photos, etc. etc. (which btw is a much better app for images than 'photos'). Why would you keep all those pictures on your phone when you get free storage for them with Google Drive? I have an iPhone but I have every google app possible running on it as I find them better to use than Apple's. I hate Apple mail and never used it on my iMac never mind with iOS.

Apple Mail is the bees knees. It has came through a lot since I first started using it in 2005.

Outlook for me. Gmail is an absolute *language* and mail works but Outlook is superior. As for free Google Drive - Yeah, for how long? I don't use absolutely any cloud service simply because I know sooner or later, free becomes not so free. Screw that.

Which I suppose if you stick with the same brands e.g. Samsung, then it would be just the same as using an iPhone as you have continuity throughout different generations of phone.

It's the spawn of the devil. Even with OS X I always used 'Postbox' as my email client. A far superior email client IMO.

You really have a bee under your bonnet don't you? You really need to chill more.

I have both too and I much prefer iOS because verything works well together including my Macbook and iPad.

Well I have been using both OneDrive and Google Drive for years and I'm yet to be billed. I had Outlook on my iMac but it wasn't linked to Exchange so I could never get it to play nicely with my Gmail accounts. Example, I have four Gmail accounts, I send an email from one of those accounts and more often than not I would also see the same 'sent item' show up in one of the other accounts. I have read of other people having the same issue.

The problem appeared cured if you could use the MS Exchange servers but as it was my home computer it wasn't possible.

But that's only because you have invested in the Apple eco system. I have spent time and money extricating myself from being beholding to any eco system, especially Apple as it's just to dammed expensive. I now run Windows, Android and an iPhone and find this a much better solution. The one regret I have is spending far to much money in iTunes and finding that I cannot convert many of my purchases to mp.3 due to digital rights issues.

Never again will I slavishly follow one manufacturer.

That's great, i'm glad it works for you.

However just because your method works for you doesn't mean it will work for others.

Your way isn't the only way so the whole preaching about how people are crazy and moronic about their comments or purchases isn't really needed :)

When ever I use my wife's S8 there seems to be many different ways to do the same thing and some things needed more steps to get to the end goal compared to what it would take on iOS. I am not sure if it's just my unfamiliarity with the platform or that's how the platform is.

One thing worth remembering here is the discussion refers to Android in a general sense but you're not just using Android, you're using a specific vendors implementation of it.

I've heard good things about Samsung's these days but I also recall some bloody awful implementations years ago and wouldn't want to use any other version but stock now, take that into consideration when comparing the platforms as it's not just A vs B.

I don't remember using the words crazy or moronic.

However, this link although a review about the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7 provides what I believe to be quite a balanced and unbiased view of both OSes.

Please bear in mind I own both these phones.

If I sign up on the Apple upgrade program for an 8 plus as a new customer can I sell my old phone as a trade in and them have the amount taken from the balance on the trade in.

ie: plus 8 cost £799. I need to pay £79 upfront plus 20 payments of £38 (not adding apple plus)
If I then trade my old phone in for say £300 can I take this from the amount owed and reduce my payments or not. Making £799 less £300 trade in £25 per month over 20 month.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Pre-ordered an 8 Plus 256GB on O2 with 30GB data with £70.00 cashback from TopCashBack.
Coming from an iPhone 6.

Cant wait to hook this up to my Oppo HA-2. Haven't been able to pair it with my iPhone 6 as I have a broken pin in my lightning port.

I'm tempted by the 8+ but don't know if i'll like the size, looking at phonearena and their phone comparison the 8+ isn't much bigger than my s7 edge.

256GB is £800 though, extra £200 gets you an Iphone X. Hmmm.

No. It is split over 20 months at a set rate, you can fully settle it at any point with the finance provider (Barclays) though.

Given your situation, I'd hold on the cash since it's an interest free loan and it benefits you to hold onto it.

What's the screen to body ratio for the two phones i.e. your Edge and the Plus?
