Then we got round to the SIM free option, and again he said this seems to be increasingly what people are opting for due to the option of 0% APR from Apple etc., and the much lower overall monthly price with a decent SIM only tarrif. He used the example of the £10pm tarrif on ID Mobile, 5GB Data, 500 Minutes, 5000 Texts + the phone cost of only £31.50pm, so £41.50pm total, with no tie in being a big draw to people who are wising up to the savings to be had against the standard 24 month deals. Again he said they have been more aggressive with pricing on these, and that tariffs have increase data, vs. last year and carry and lower average cost, but it's not helping.

Absolutely. Anybody with common sense and basic math skills can work out that buying from the providers with a 24 months contract is stupid.. With o2 I was basically asked to pay £300 extra for an i8 on a 24 month contract vs handset from Apple and keep running with my existing o2 contract.. Thats nearly 50% of the handset cost, in addition. Most people dont want extra gb, when they already have too much data.. They want providers to give them a good deal for staying loyal customers, etc.. But instead they rip customers off..

Anyway.. My UKMail delivery hasnt come with the 1 hour slot I was hoping for, so have decided to work from home today so I dont miss it..

Mine has just arrived.. Unfortunately its a surprise gift for the wife, so I wont be able to open it and play with it.

Actually it's stupid not to work out the best deal, not nessecerily to buy the one with sim only.

Mine is going to cost me £880 for 24 months by getting a contract with Vodafone. That makes it only £7.50 a month for 4gb data and unlimited texts and unlimited texts. I'm happy with that.

I've been using my Three 'one plan' sim for 5 years now, unlimited data, texts and calls, 4G, use abroad, free 0800 numbers, it can't be beat for £15 a month.

I always buy my phone's sim free and transfer the sim across.

Tom's Hardware: The iPhone 8 is the world's fastest phone (it's not even close).

Tom's Hardware said:
The “Bionic” part in the name of Apple’s A11 Bionic chip isn’t just marketing speak. It’s the most powerful processor ever put in a mobile phone. We’ve put this chip to the test in both synthetic benchmarks and some real-world speed trials, and it obliterates every Android phone we tested. […]

If you’re wondering how all this translates to real-world performance, we have more good news for iPhone 8 shoppers — and bad news for everyone else. To really put the A11 Bionic chip through its paces, we put the same 2-minute video, shot in 4K by a drone, on the iPhone 8, Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+, and then added the same transitions and effects before exporting and saving the video.

The iPhone 8 finished this strenuous task in just 42 seconds, while the Note 8 took more than 3 minutes. The Galaxy S8+ took more than 4 minutes.

Enjoy your new phones. :)

I’d be interested to know how you are still on that when everyone got kicked off it last year?

It should be £20 now but I still have a recurring £5 discount applied to my account.

As far as I’m aware I was told it should be £25. (They’re charging me £23)

£20 is with capped data (or that’s what I was told).

In fact looking at the website now, they want £29 for unlimited everything.

Just checked my 3 account, I don't have unlimited calls, only 200 minutes but still unlimited data and texts, 12GB tethering etc..
