INTEL BRING THE BIG GUNS!

lol! I'll always remember what I was told before I bought it. "If you ever have a crash in an Evo, I can assure it will be a big one". The car is far more capable than I am

Very true. That's why I drive a Fabia vrs as my daily. Plenty of go for what it is and easily returns 50mpg. Win win.

After all nobody likes their drivers to crash. :)

I'm surprised just how much overclocking headroom there appears to be - 4.x across all cores appears to be no problem at all. Power consumption can, of course, go off the charts as a result!

Cheers :)

Looks a cracking processor if you have the dough. Surprised the gaming perf is so poor, falling behind the 1950x in most titles, but it's not really a cpu aimed at gamers so probably of no consequence.

Amd have announced 32core 64 thread threadripper for release in december price $1299

Funny guy.

If AMD were to respond, at this point they'd only need a 24 core to take the performance crown back. They could keep the 32 core in their pocket for Intels response.

AMD might not need more than 16 cores to beat the 7980xe in most situations.

This something for the hard-core enthusiast to put under exotic cooling.

There are a few tests in those reviews where the 1950x is still on top, but on the whole the 7980xe and 7960x are on top - but so they should be for 70% and 100% extra! The core clock speed really seems to hurt the 7980xe though - falling behind the 7980xe numerous times (although to be fair, we sometimes saw that with the 1950x vs 1920x as well, although not as often).

I think if you're overclocking the 7980XE makes even less sense given even a mild overclock can have the already very high power consumption to a point where its non conducive to the Motherboards good health.

It looks like the sort of thing where Intel did this not because there is a need for it but because they want to be able to say they have the fastest CPU.

Until AMD take that away from them again... if i was them i would just to stick it to Intel.
