The above video with the AR15 confirms to me that it wasn't a regular assault rifle that the guy was using. The rate and longevity of the sustained fire points to some kind of LMG. Scary stuff

Most of the US gun nuts are saying AK series rifle most likely AKM with bump (what ever that is)

The real reason is what need is there for anything bar single shot rifles, shotguns and low cap pistols for home defence in the more remote areas

Bumping is when you have a semi-auto but position your finger (or can have some kind of device fitted to the trigger which works off the recoil) so when the rifle recoils you 'bump' the trigger to fire again, giving you almost fully automatic fire.

We have sports fans who kick off at other sports fans purely because of the team shirt they wear.

We have tv shows like The Undateables (and many others) where the main body of the viewership is laughing AT those who have problems. We have tv shows of people being put into the "wild" and killing animals (often conveniently brought into the show for just that purpose).

We have a society where quite often the amount of flesh a person shows off, or how they look is deemed more worthwhile and important than what a person is like or thinks.

We have beauty pageants where young girls (and sometimes boys) are indoctrinated with the idea of looks as important.

We have "children" having children.

We have people shouting at other people in public that they dont belong here and arent our nationality.

We have people abusing each other on social media for trivialities.

And I could go on, I could literally list dozens of things. None of which are representative of a civilised and evolved society. Oh, sure, we like to think we are evolved and civilised, and to be fair, compared to some societies we are, but we are definitely (imo) not a good example of a civilised and evolved society, in fact we are a long way from putting aside materialism, prejudice and abuse.

I'm no gun expert but doesn't AK series use mags of around 30 rounds? Sounds to me from the videos to be kicking out a lot more than that. Sustained auto fire over around 10 seconds. Dunno if the magazine size can be modified though.

Yeah sounds more like drum or belt fed type gun as the amount of rounds being fired in-between re-loads is shirly too high for even banana clips/mags ?!?

yup, rather more rounds being fired in one go than the usual 30 you'd have in a magazine! It does seem to be some sort of machine gun

We (UK) can, Americans no not all of them and not by a long way. I remember reading a thread somewhere about home protection and what some people kept at hand or by their bed. It was insane! (trying to find thread will look when I have time).
From handguns, shotguns to full on assault rifles. It had me thinking what kind of neighborhood do these people live in, and their attitude to guns in general is just alien to me. I love guns, don't know why, just do, but even I can see that the US has serious issues and given the massive numbers of guns in their country, the power of the NRA and others, it is hard to see how they will change regardless of such tragedies at this one.

You seem offended that people in this day and age assume mass killings might be related to Islamic terrorism and I'm not quite sure why, given the amount of mass killings that group has committed over the past few years, it seems at least reasonable that it definitely could be ISIS or similar
