Property Damage by Vehicle

I'm with the neighbors on this one. If careless delivery drivers made a mess to my garden I'd be the same. I hate gardening, it's an absolute chore, therefore if I had to clean up a 10ft mark on my garden I'd be pretty upset

It's winter. Just tell them to leave it and it will recover next spring. It's a bit of grass ffs..........some people! If they want compensation, they can pursue it, nothing to do with you.

Really?

Suing over some grass... jesus friggin christ...

"get a grip" would be my advice.
and just ignore the fact someone has destroyed a part of their garden? admittedly suing should be the last resort if the van company doesn't make reparations for the damage.

Neighbors sound like chancers.
how so? please explain/clarify?

Quoting myself after seeing the photo. Yup neighbours are chancers!

What is the actual damage? Not sure if I can see from the photo.

My parents was having their drive way widened and the builders' van reversed into our porch, crushing it. Their firm were obliged to foot the repair bill and they did without further ado. It took a week to repair it, but at least the parents could still secure the property via a lockable inside door. This was back in 1998, but I'm sure it still applies now at the very least.

Yeah they aren't going to get anywhere with that. I was expecting something more like...

Not to mention their grass is hardly well kept to begin with. Garden is a mess.

LOL I was expecting an immaculately kept lawn but meh... I guess the (very minor) damage is still there

would probably be worth him blowing away/raking up the leaves and taking a pic when it is a bit drier/nicer outside if he's going to pursue this

would probably be a lot more reasonable a complaint if the lawn was kept in really good condition to begin with - I mean if it originally looked like say this:

then even the minor damage seen there from the single tyre track could take a fair bit of faffing about to fix... but as it stands it is pretty minor

Surely they could just fork that up a bit to basically lift it where it's been compressed.

they could, sure but then that still requires time and effort on the part of the neighbour through no fault of his own... I can see why he'd be a bit put out it is more just the company fobbing him off that has got to be annoying, presumably for most people if the company just apologised when receiving the complaint and said they'd have words with the driver then that would be enough to make it go away

I guess if the neighbour does say regularly employ a Gardner and perhaps the Gardner says he'd need an extra hour to dig it up a bit, go over it with a roller, plant new seeds etc.. + bills him for the extra time + seeds then there is a clear cost that the neighbour has incurred and that he could invoice to the company whose driver was responsible... if they still fobbed him off then actually maybe it would be worth the "small claims court" out of principle - if he's got CCTV footage of the van doing it and an invoice from the Gardner then should be quite simple to claim

Go and put two circular dents above the tyre track, then fill with soil and seed with buttercups. In spring he'll have a big yellow sad face.

I was on the neighbours side until I saw the pic! Yes I'd be annoyed if someone did that to my lawn, but the damage is so minor it's not worth the hassle.

I would have blown my brains out, how could you live another Day with massive amount of unrecoverable lawn like that. Worst thing that has ever happened to anyone ever.

If it was my lawn, i'd be annoyed and ask the delivery receiving neighbour for whatever details he might have of the company but beyond that, pursue it myself.

The lack of care and respect some people have for other peoples property irritates me more than anything I think.
