*** Nintendo Switch ***

Anyone else think this is quickly becoming their favourite console ever ? Just sat on the balcony on holiday waiting for the wife to get ready, messing around in a game world as big as Skyrim with a beer, it's unbelievable !

Only problem is time goes too quick when I load up Skyrim so it didn't feel like I was on it long enough haha :D

I moved my PS4 upstairs as it wasn't getting any TV time. Since then I've been able to go upstairs of an evening and choose to play on the PS4.... Yet I'm still happy to sit downstairs playing Skyrim on the Switch.

I'm still amazed that I'm playing Skyrim on a handheld. Of all the consoles I've had, my wife has never commented that I'm getting my moneys worth other than when she did a few days ago when I was playing on the Switch in bed.

At this point I'm not even looking at PS4 releases, the Switch is just too good.

I've not fired up my PS4 in months. The Switch is just too convenient to dip in and out of games. What I especially like is that when I play it doesn't mean I have to alienate people in the house, by disappearing to another room. I can sit on the sofa, whilst others put rubbish on the TV, pick up and put down whenever.

I'm no stranger to handhelds. The 3DS and Vita have some pretty decent games, but many felt quite watered down in order to match the devices graphical abilities. The Switch though just feels perfect, great graphics and brilliant 3rd party support. There's so many games I want to play and the catalogue is growing month by month.

Taking the Switch on flights and on holidays is an absolute entertainment joy.

Safe to say, I really like the Switch. :D

My PS4 pro is on Netflix duties at the moment although I'm planning to get the DLC for horizon once I've finished XC2 (although at the moment I'm avoiding finishing it).

I got Skyrim for the Switch, not played it yet as it is technically a Christmas present. Given that I never got round to playing the game in all the years it has been out, I look forward to indulging.

The Switch really is something special, the portability adds so much opportunity to game (especially if you are married or have kids) but most importantly the games are genuine, proper games - you don't feel like you are 'making do' or killing time by booting it up and playing it on the fly, you are playing delving into proper, fully fledged games (as opposed to playing some BS on a mobile for example).

This is so true , I have a new phone since getting the switch and I haven't even installed any games on it at all , just pick the switch up instead :D

Only 3 more sleeps till my Switch :D

I really hope I'm getting Zelda with it. Feel like I've been falling out of love with RPGs the last few years. Skyrim never clicked for me on PC release or remastered console. Not sure why, lack of carding about the world and directionless probs didn't help. Zelda looks great, actually excited to play it. Not played one since Ocarina on the N64.

Zelda is probably the most directionless game I've ever played. So much time wandering around looking for something to do or trying to find a way to progress the story.

You and I had very different experiences of that game. I always found myself with almost too much to do and struggled to decide what to do next rather than "what do I do now"

I don't get the "what do I do now" thing with Zelda. I mean, the game tells you exactly where to go if you just want to progress the story.

At the same time there is so much freedom that I can understand how it can be overwhelming, we are so used to being told exactly where to go to 'level up' and find secrets etc in open world games. The openness and lack of direction is a breath of fresh air though imo, a true adventure game.

Run around with the sensor on, climb high places and mark points of interest on map etc and you'll soon be swimming in things to do; create your own direction.

Same. Was I on a Rupee hunt to unlock fairies? On a mob hunt to upgrade gear? Did I want to go for the dungeons or hunt for the 120 shrines? Or find the camera locations? Complete my expanding number of side quests? Find the fastest horse to tame? That's without considering just meandering and trying to get to some random thing I see in the distance (I found searching for the shrines pretty much enabled me to combine 'aimless meandering' as it often resulted in finding a shrine!)

"Oh I wonder whats over there"
*starts gliding*
*sheikah sensor going off*
"oh a shrine, lets go to that instead"
"found it, ooh that lake looks cool"

"....where was I going again?"

Sound familiar? :D
