Show us your kitty cats

On occasion my rescue cat Millie will do this I just put it down to the fact that generally she is just plain weird at times and have given up trying to understand why she does stuff. Would not change her for the world though except the extreme fussiness when it comes to food. :D:D

new little additions to my household...

three little abandoned guys... giving them a warm home and plenty of love at the moment, hand rearing is going to be tiring though

Tiring but they will become like your very own children. Very rewarding seeing them thrive. Good stuff fella!

Cute :)

A stray came to visit at work today... very very skinny (spine and ribs poking through skin). Gave it some food and took it to the vet. Turned out it was microchipped and has travelled a long way to end up here.

Vet's looking after and trying to contact the family.

I'll call back in the morning to see how they're getting on and possibly rehome the little one.

Any more news on this squire?

We got a rescue cat for some reason he pawns around the area where his food bowl is after eating its like he's trying to bury it, I know feral cats do this so they don't attract predators not sure why he does ?

A bit late to this ... but rather than burying something, it could be kneading. Kittens do it when suckling to stimulate milk production. It may well be that your cat was taken away from mum too early. Unfortunately very common with rescued cats.

Stretch

Sorry to hear about Austin - It is devastating when your cat is ill - We had one and Vet was all we shall give her this and that and keep her going don't worry to much yet - We left it to late - should have taken her in a long time before we did - you will see the deterioration as time goes by but you have to be strong to say "that's it" - It's not fair on the cat.

We took Holly to Vet last night and we were certain we were going to bring her home in a box - if it had been anything serious with no happy outcome we would have pulled the plug.

Happy to say today she is back to normal - eating - drinking -but not litter tray yet - we are hoping for the best and we will see.

We still have to take her to another branch of our Vet to have her ear looked at by a specialist there but this isn't life threatening "hopefully"

Austin didn't make it. We had to take him to the vet this morning. He'd stopped eating, and could barely walk and his breathing was very laboured.

Going to find him a nice patch in the garden tomorrow and maybe plants some daffodils close by.

Surprisingly the children are taking it better than I thought. I'm not sure they really understand at the moment.

Yes, thanks for asking, but not good news.

Little guy had a liver tumour and towards the end of the week they had him for, his kidneys started failing so last I spoke to them they were about to put him down.

I've been torturing myself since the next day as they already told me by that point they were likely to put him down.

I hate that by trying to do the right thing, that poor little guy has spent his last days trapped in a tiny cage. I wanted to look after him until he was too far gone, so at least he had a loving warm home for his last days, but they wouldn't allow it.

On the other hand, I have considered that the little guy was already in pain and fed up of being out in the cold - so came to me for a last little bit of love and to get in the warm or have his pain stopped... of which there will have been some I'm sure, in late stage liver cancer.

Trying not to cry in the office now while typing this...

I just have to keep telling myself I did the right thing, if he was my kitty I would want someone in my position to do everything they could to try and find me and I showed the guy a lot of love before taking him to the vet, i'm sure the vet took good care of him and even though his last living space will have been small - at least it will have been warmer and a comfier than sleeping in a bush or something.

I became attached to him the moment he asked for help.

Wish I had just taken him home and looked for the owner myself... but he needed vet attention, so that would have been bad.

The RSPCA did try tracking down the family, but the chip hadn't been updated for 12 years or something and they couldn't find them. All the vet did was stick up a photo on their own facebook page. At least if I'd taken him home, he'd have got a lot more publicity on all the various lost & found pet sites... grrr.

You did your best fella. He might have died starving or run over by a car due to being too weak to cross a road. I know what you mean though, heartbreaking when you're involved and it doesn't turn out with a happy ending.

What toys do you guys recommend for an adult cat (2 years old) who’s transitioning from being an outdoor cat to an indoor cat?

So far Tilt’s done really well, she was very brave during the house move :). However I have noticed she’s become a bit more aggressive now she’s “trapped” inside. I play with her whenever she wants and stop if she bites/scratches. I was the only person she never attacked in anyway before we moved.

She’s eating and drinking fine and her sleep seems good too. She doesn’t sit by the door moaning all day, so I don’t think she’s depressed etc. She also still sleeps on my bed with me and she always curls up on the sofa nearby when I’m sat there.

I’m going to be adopting another cat too so she can have a brother/sister to play with :). Do you guys recommend a male or female? Also, should I get a younger kitten so Tilt doesn’t feel like it’s encroaching on her territory when they first meet.

A laser pen can keep your cat fairly active without much effort from yourself. Also, most cats love a small ball to push around and chase after, teasers can be cheap, but offer loads of fun and all cats need something they can scratch.

Catit Super circuit works on my two, they push the ball around without prompting so I just leave it setup in the living room, quite funny when you are watching a quiet scene in a movie and all of a sudden the noise of plastic on plastic as they bat the ball through the track. :D

The cat teasers with a ball and tail on it I find best for my two to get their aggression out on, although I need to figure out where to get them now that £stretcher have closed in my area.

Laser is okay if you have an over look at your stairs that you can point it over to make them run up and down the stairs, although you'll get bored once she figures out she can just sit in one place and you eventually move the laser closer to her to get her to attack it.

Ronnie came to us from over the road - when they split up Ronnie and Ginger their other cat was locked out all day so Ronnie adopted us and Ginger adopted next door - Next door came round this morning to say they had took Ginger to Vet as he isn't eating or pooing - Left him there and had a call later that they have found problem with liver and pancreas - keeping him in till tomorrow for more tests - He is a cuddly looking cat but a bit nasty. - This is downside of pet ownership -sadness on both sides - pet and us.

We are hoping for the best.

Holly our other cat has just finished a course of ear drops - more a syringe of liquid to get rid of a dermatological problem in her ear - It now looks clean and dry so we are giving it a week to settle down then get her back in -- I hope this is end to her ear problem - but at least we know the ear drum is sound as vet could see it last time we went.

Any one tried a Boppin' Bugz as a cat toy?

I was thinking of getting one for my sister's cat.

More likely to freak them out.

My pair are fascinated by my new quad drone (unless it flies near them in which case they bolt), but attack it when it runs out of battery. Might be fun for you guys to set it on the cat and watch the reaction though.

Bert has decided that after all these years of sitting on top of the cage that he wants to run around the living room floor.

I put some carboard boxes down on the floor and cut some holes in them, so he could run around inside and demolish them, instead of trying to destroy everything else.

But the 2 brothers had other ideas.

Bonus picture of the old girl, she's had this box with bubble wrap for months, spends 90% of her time in it. The boys are NOT allowed near it.

Just weighed Millie as she looks so big and discovered that she is 6 kg's which is surprising as her eating habits are woeful but she eats so little, of what I would call junk food, which is most bought cat food. Her food for the day is little more than 130-160 gms of white fish and one chicken drumstick with the occasional treat and that is about it.
She has never been a particularly active cat and being a rescue we do not know what breeds in her mix might be. Perhaps she is just a big cat but it is a puzzle as her weight has increased since I last weighed her a few months back. This is not a most recent image but will give you an idea. A bit of a puzzle.

Ours get a 100g pouch each per day (half am, half pm) and always have biscuit available.

Last weigh in Floyd was just over 5.5kg and he's MC cross. Hugo who's a brit short hair was a shade over 5kg.

They're 4 years old and indoor cats if that helps.

Might be she's crossed with a larger breed, she looks a bit like Floyd.

Mine does not eat pouched food most of the time and never ever eats dry food which to be honest is a very unnatural food for a cat.
But I think you may well have a point about being crossed with a larger breed.

Could very well be a cross with either a mainecoon or norwegian forest cat both of which are large breeds (very large in the case of the mainecoon).

I have a 3 year female norgie who weighs in at 6kg.

Does yours go outside, could she be snacking with neighbours?

As I mentioned earlier, she is too fussy to eat elsewhere and as for neighbours feeding her then it would need yo be overnight when she does most of her wandering outdoors.
I think she is a big cat cross breed.
