GPU prices go boom

No 1 per customer limit. I wonder why that could be.
No-one who only wants one card will pay £900+ for a Vega card. ;)

Some members still going on about how this will kill PC Gaming.

The reality is the majority will just wait until prices are sane again.

Until then, i'll just work on my backlog of games...52 completed, 356 to go (plus 81 wishlisted). :D
True, I have plenty of games I still haven't played. I was lucky to upgrade at the right time...well actually lucky that my old monitor packed it in at the right time. If I were to buy my monitor new now, it'd cost £70 more, and I wouldn't even be able to find my GPU for sale anywhere. My main worry right now is if my rig goes bang and I have to pay £250 for new RAM!

Just noticed the Red Devil 64 is back in stock, 10+, and they've upped its price again, its now £950!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF??? Completely insane prices and I seriously do feel for the gamers who want to buy.

I seem to have picked a fairly rubbish time to upgrade my monitor from 1080P to SW 1440P.

If the prices are not going to go down for the forseeable, even though the prices are silly, I'm tempted to sell on the 970 as they still seem to be fetching £200+ and just plump for the 980Ti which you can get for £360+. So about £160 to upgrade, which is still a lot but not too hard to stomach.

In fact I've just this minute bought a 980 Ti from CEX for £335 which is the best price I could find.

Madness.

Though I have to chuckle when I think about when I bought my 1080Ti on release at £700. I thought it was a lot of money and was worried how much cheaper it would be 6-12 months later...

This is absolutely appalling though.

1080 Ti is what I would have ideally wanted, but no way on this planet I am paying a grand for a graphics card, so I'll just make do with its predecessor.

If these prices stick around then my current PC will definitely be my last. I'm not even a hardcore gamer, I just like the occasional game now and again, so even £335 is pushing it, but I absolutely cannot justify £1k!

Remember the days when the original Titan came out and we paid £829 and people said we were crazy.
Absolutely!!! Makes that price look cheap now. Honestly shocked to see prices like this and whilst Vega and 1080Ti are decent cards, the 1060 I bought from here for a friends build has even gone up £50. Not a good sign for the long run :(

Cryptocurrency will be exactly the same as any other currency or stock, it's cyclical. What goes up will come down, it's just when and how far.

Hopefully pick up a bargain when it does happen.

The current situation doesn't stop that being crazy, in fact it legitimises retailers' thinking that people will buy cards at stupid prices.

Don't think so

Why is it you can buy a Star Wars Titan Xp for less than some of the highend 1080 Ti cards.

As to the Titan cards, they have always offered something new when they launched which early adaptors could pay a bit extra for. On the other hand an overpriced 1080 Ti is just that "overpriced" and brings nothing new to the table.

Retailers are legitimising because of miners and the massively high demand for them.
Current stock of RX Vega 64 are £950 and restricted to 1 per customer, so not aimed at miners. Obviously mining is creating the shortage that pushes prices up generally but you can't say that people who bought cards for nearly a grand before there was any shortage didn't add fuel to the fire.

Yer, looking back to Titan days, pricing was high and previous generation were around £450 for the top card but then you go back to the 8800 Ultra, which cost insane money, which was out of my price range at the time, so had to make do with an 8800GT but that didn't mean I lambasted those who bought Ultra's and there is always cheaper alternatives that can do a stellar job. Miners have sent the prices mental this time though and that is fact.
