• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

GPU prices go boom

Its not that clear mate. I remember Gibbo sayign profit margin on stuff they sell like cpus motherboards and so on is LOW liek 20-30 quid on 400 pounds product. Now if You sell gpu at lets say 900 instead of 650. You made 280. MAsically by that You made profit like on selling WHOLE SYSTEM. Not to mention Logistic costs will be lower on 1 product than on whole system.

It goes one step further than that though. If they're not being sold, then they're not being resupplied, which means that the original stockist is not selling their product. There's a potential that if this lasts it could drive up prices across the board.

Im so glad I'w Build Ryzen system on preorder when prices ware normal my mate got a MASSIVE WIN when i sold him 5820k+motherboard+ddr4 for 400 quid. If he was to buy now just ram would be 220 quid LOL

I wonder what I can get for my vega56 now? If it wasnt' for battlefield1 on the PC, I'd go to a console. PC gaming is for the rich now, thanks to prices.

if that was the case, then how do they afford black Friday sales? don't believe everything a sales man tells you, the profit is clearly there in other areas to make up for the low profit on cpus. its normal practice to win some and lose some across the board. this just takes it to a completely new level which the consumer is unhappy about hence this whole discussion, its only through people saying no a change is made. problem is miners are wiling to pay the bonkers prices of these gpus, so gamers have no voice and no way to get a gpu at a reasonable price and so will go to console, its a vicious circle.

I'm guessing the best idea is to wait out the madness will my gtx780 be enough if I overclock it ? got an i7 4770 and 32gb Ram

define enough :D, being serious though, if you are willing to drop a few settings here and there in modern games it will be perfectly fine for medium - high, the 290/390 still performs admirably in my misses machine so no doubt the 780 is around the same sorta performance roughly.

I've been monitoring these forums and read most of this thread.

Just thought I'd chime in that ******** actually don't seem TOO bad for prices at the moment while everyone else (particularly OCUK/Scan) seem to be ripping everyone off.

I was looking to order an MSI GTX 1070 TI from Overclockers but they're milking this hugely. Managed to order one from ******** at £438 but have been told I won't get it for 3 weeks :(

EDIT: Not allowed to list competitors so I'll just say, if you don't want to be ripped off, go elsewhere, there are new cards out there for less.

Is this against the rules? Do we not have the freedom to shop elsewhere from companies who aren't out to take advantage?

It is against the rules to list competitors.

This is only fair as OCUK pay for the forum upkeep and are a business who don't wish to promote their rivals.

Edited, if it's still too much then a mod can edit, seems a bit ridiculous to me, banning/deleting posts. Nobody likes being ripped off, OCUK should just be more competitive and not take the p*ss in times like this.

We're all only here for our love of hardware after all, nothing else.

You still need to remove the competitors name.

You don't really want the mods to see it as they are quite strict.
