Nvidia Ampere might launch as GeForce GTX 2070 and 2080 on April 12th

PC gaming is dead bro.

True.
The only games playing atm that are PC exclusive are WOT and grand strategy ones like Stellaris & CK2.
Not that the PS4Pro or the XBX aren't powerful enough to play them, but they need keyboard and mouse the last two. (and WOT has a more simplified version for consoles).

Hell, even Total War is coming to consoles, starting with the Three Kingdoms later this year.

So find me PC exclusive games right now, other than Paradox grand strategies. And those PDX games don't need powerful GPUs. My 1080ti @ 2180 gets wasted.

IMO that's a big downside too, probably buying into the generation halfway or more through it's lifespan.
It's not tho really is it. The Ti's lifespan/life-cycle ends when the next Ti is released. Think about it in terms of the Ti being on a different release cycle to the other cards. Like Intel's E-series CPUs.

After all a Ti to xx80 upgrade is pretty marginal/non-existent normally. So if you've got a Ti you're really waiting for either the next Titan or the next Ti.

Honestly, you'd have to be unable to see past your nose to think PC gaming is anything but thriving. What does exclusives have to do with anything? We even get Microsoft exclusives...

PC gaming is far from dead. So many people just wrapped up because miners have bought all the stock but that doesn't mean non miners suddenly sell their PCs and turn to console-ation.

I think the 80 Ti cards are the best all round GPUs in any NVidia architecture and it is a good move to go from 80 Ti to 80 Ti.

The downside is NVidia know this and the 80 Ti is one of the last cards in the range to be released.

Yeah, it's a long wait, but, it gives my wallet a chance to rest and I get to see what AMD will come out with in the mean time. And because it's usually the last card released in Nvidia's line up, the drivers are well matured.

Of course, I might feel different if I was waiting 18-24 months to upgrade, the ampere x80 card might be a lot more tempting!!

I'll likely pick up the 2080 to upgrade to, then sell to a friend when the Titan or 80Ti is out. Then hold onto that another 3 years; and repeat :D

Totally this. People have been saying PC gaming is dying for 10 years or more, yet, it just seems to go from strength to strength and Microsoft know this, they are making huge efforts to get PC gamers more involved.

yeah, talk about over reacting. Their has been a GPU shortage for about a month and already people are proclaiming the death of PC gaming, again.

And all of them are with mediocre visuals.
Is there a single modern game that can rival visual-wise the mighty Crysis series?

There's much more to PC gaming than fancy graphics. Indie games are huge. Modding games is extremely popular.

And there are loads of games that are graphically amazing too. And for most games there are mods released to make the games look even better.

Crysis is not about "fancy" graphics. It is about state-of-the-art graphics, that was the world record for the best at the time of its release.

I am asking you, are there games now which set in stone the visuals for more years to come?

And there are loads of games that are graphically amazing too.

Which are they?

It's harder these days to find game that doesn't have great graphics. Sure you can always have better, but certainly we are not lacking in high-quality graphics in modern titles.

Frankly I don't think any dev is going to go out of their way to make a game that will take 10 years to be fully appreciated - using future hardware that doesn't yet exist :p Heck, not even Crytek do that anymore. It just doesn't make much business sense. It's the sort of thing AMD would do :p
