What watch do you wear?

Very nice. I really like my Hamtun and think this looks a nice project too. It's had more wear than any of my watches since I got it

I really like my H1 as well. Currently I have it as a dress watch and use a Seiko 007 for everyday usage, but once I get the Neon I will relegate the 007 to spare and wear one of the Hamtuns as a day to day.

I’ve retired my Suunto Core in Brushed Steel (Will always keep it as Mrs HB got me it) but this Christmas she got me a Suunto Spartan sport with HR Monitor. I like Suunto watches :)

Switched my Mondaine Stop2Go from the awful supplied strap to a Hirsch Robby....

And moved my PO back from the rubber deployant to the bracelet for a bit.

Hadn't bought a watch in a while!
I had a hole in my collection since my Steiny Special Blue packed up a few months back. I need a not-expensive, lightish, go-to watch for doing sport etc, but one that still looks good...

So I decided on 1) solar powered so I can keep in around without having to worry about setting the time and 2) Titanium so it's light. I came up with Citizen AT2340-56L. Quite happy so far, as light as a feather in comparison to my usual Planet Ocean, looks good, reasonably flat so you can wear it with a shirt/gloves -- and you can pick it up for <£180 if you're a bit savy.

quite tempted with one of these as don't have a real dressy watch

Looks real nice. It has front applied AR coating too which looks so so good when it moves around in the light, but one of the major drawbacks is that even a little bit of water/rain that falls on it creates this pale mark that makes it look mucky! So you end up wiping the glass all the time.

Or maybe many folks just don't care and it's just me that notices these things :p

Lovely watches, how hard is it switching straps on the P.O?

Very straight forward if you are using omega straps and spring bars. Soft straps like rubber or natos are easy. The bracelet comes off easily but is a little more fiddly to replace as you've got to find the right angle to allow the curved ends of the bracelet to sit flush against the watch housing whilst leaving room to engage the spring bars, takes a few minutes of trial and error to suss out but still not particularly difficult.

Also having the proper tool helps a tonne the bergeon being the best.

Hi,

I want to buy a nice watch fro my dad's 60th bday.
He likes gold / gold colored watches and he currently doesn't have one.

Can anyone recommend something?

Budget is around £300.

Thanks

You'll find plenty of gold plated and rolled gold watches that are around 60 years old (or bang on) made by very decent manufacturers for that price, as gold watches from that era are not particularly popular due to being gold and often in the 34-36mm bracket. The challenge will be finding one that hasn't been polished to heck and with a movement inside that is worth spending money on - you'll need to send away for servicing unless it has recent service history from a reputable watchmaker.

eBay is where I'd be looking first for ideas on makes and styles.

Don't really want to give second hand tbh.

I know automatic are more expensive as well, so I'm even looking at Quartz options.

Was thinking something like Citizen, Tissot or Seiko, but not sure what else I should be looking at.
