This is hillarious (check your white male privilege)

The former, not particularly. Presumably there’s a fair number of LGBT plumbers around? That said I’d hazard a guess that there are less societies in general in the plumbing community because of the nature of it.

The latter two examples, well I’d be surprised if there were enough people in those industries interested in those sort of things... Besides, they’re a little different to skin colour and sexual orientation.
I chose those examples because they are a pairing of unrelated characteristics.

A mud-wrestling pilot is a mud-wrestler and a pilot. He could go to either a mud-wrestling community or a pilots community and would be well served by each.

He wouldn't need a community specifically for mud-wrestling pilots.

Similarly, a LGBT plumber could visit a plumbing community or a LGBT community and be well-served by both. Why does there need to be a LGBT Plumber community which combines the two?

There is the problem. LGBT Plumber is a pairing of two totally unrelated characteristics. The plumbing aspect should have no bearing in his sexuality (innuendo aside :p) and his sexuality should have no bearing on his trade as a plumber.

Would LGBT people be better served by a LGBT plumber than a normal plumber? I guess that's the only angle I can think of, where LGBT people would prefer to exclusively get their services from other LGBT people.

As a side note, there is a news article on the beeb about a singer from little mix having her hair in dreads that will be sure to send you all into a frenzy. Absolutely not worth another thread like this one but damn, even by my lefty standards this is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read.

I have now stooped to posting an article like this myself.... what have I done!!! :(

So someone had a whinge because they love the attention, this gets the other attention seekers on the band wagon. This then brings it to the attention of the people who can't ignore the attention seekers so must moan about how they ruin everything and its stupid etc.

Did I get the circle of twitter offendedness/moaning about people who resemble weather/professional baiters from both sides right?

I mean it feels pretty right and predictable.

You conveniently missed out the people who moan about the people who moan/lol about the attention seekers :p

Not moaning at you, its just annoying that we have threads because people are baited by pathetic things. If they werent getting the attention then they wouldnt bother. Its not just you, loads of people here get worked up by it and I can see why. I've just taken to not caring in the slightest.

"Human Rights" are something that we as a society decided to implement, calling them Human Rights doesn't mean you're automatically born with them, we only have those rights because society enforces them. There are enough countries where those rights don't exist if you think otherwise.

Irrelevant, they're still an entitlement that doesn't require an obligation. See also my other two examples.

Just face it: Thatcher was wrong.

I wouldn't expect anything different on Twitter, it's basically their home at this point.

They could do it again with all black people and they'd think it was the best thing ever.

Go see how far your entitlement to Human rights takes you in North Korea, Venezuela or the Republic of Congo. They actually still have slaves in that last place.

Oh look people who are apparently very much against racism, prejudicing people by the colour of their skin. Oh wait that is racism.

Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.

Hang on, @FoxEye I've just realised something.

You popped into the subnautica thread in pc gaming to declare how you wouldn't be buying the game because of the devs sacking their sound guy for his questionable views.

You hadn't shown any interest in the game up until people called for it to be review bombed against his sacking, and you only came into that thread to say you wouldn't buy it because of that reason.

So, a group of people grouped together to achieve a common goal, I'd call that SOCIAL.

They wanted an outcome, for the game to do badly because of it. A sort of JUSTICE wouldn't you agree?

So people are fighting for a result, someone fighting might be referred to as a WARRIOR perhaps?

I'm picking hairs, but they aren't thin. Surely you can see its very hypocritical?

I read that this morning, black people are being racist basically. She literally got told "that hair style isn't for you" because she's white.

Didn’t you know, it's only racist if you're white.

The lecturer was interviewed by a Hispanic BBC journalist who said something along the lines of “I’m Hispanic and I know lots of racist Hispanics” to which the lecturer replied “No, they may hold predjudiced views relating to race but they can’t be racist as they’re not white”…

I’m all for defending those who raise race equality issues but even I draw the line at that one.

From the article:

Blacks, Latinos and other people of color, indeed, can harbor racially prejudiced views, Thornhill said.

“But sociologists study racism from a structural perspective. It’s about who has the power and the privilege, and it’s about the history of this country,” he said. “This country is founded in a particular way, based on genocide, colonization and enslavement, and you can’t escape that or pretend that time has rendered those historical facts inconsequential. Because it has not.”

I get what he’s saying about the historical legacy of colonisation and the slave trade, but I don’t see how that stops people of colour from being racist.

Lolwut?

That's pretty tenuous at best. Justice hasn't been done, has already been perverted, because the SJWs got the guy fired for no good reason.

My not buying the game is a reaction to that, for sure. But being opposed to the insanity of the Twitter brigade getting people fired for stupid reasons doesn't make me hypocritical in the slightest.

It's like saying the police are hypocritical for arresting criminals or something equally daft, because the criminals don't like the police and the police don't like the criminals, ergo they are both just as bad as each other :p That's the kind of illogical position you just threw at me :p

There can't be justice for this guy who has already been screwed over. What I can do is stick two fingers up to the company that fired him in their effort to be more PC.

e: Actually your argument is more akin to saying that police who use violence against criminals are hypocrites, because criminals use violence against the innocent. Ergo one and the same. That's a better analogy (and equally wrong!!).

I know its tenuous, but the rest of your quote doesnt make sense.

This is entirely your interpretation of events, I won't detract from your thread but saying such things as:

importing random ppl from the 3rd world is also importing 3rd world tier crime rates and IQ
Note: this is one of few such comments he has made repeatedly over the past
Over the weekend we discovered that one of our team members had made many hateful statements online that are against our company values. After discussing the matter with him, we decided to stop working with him immediately.”

Now to me thats pretty conclusive. There would be no question in my mind to go on the offensive in his protection.

So my point was correct. You were fighting as part of a social organization, for a perceived justice.
Not having a go, its just weird how you fight so hard against something you actively do

yet you're contributing in the thread and ironically moaning about the moaners... which then undermines your criticism of them - it seems every time we have a thread about this sort of topic there are people moaning about the fact there is such a thread instead of just reading other threads

(and yes I guess I'm now moaning about the people moaning about the people moaning - moanception...)

its just boring though, especially when its just an RSS feed about what we should be annoyed about.

Yeah theres loads of other threads, I enjoy the cat pictures and attempted to join the 'what watch do you wear' but got lost in the big **** rolex crowd.

Noones got anything original anymore

You can always start your own threads if you don't like the ones others start.
To some extent, he does have a point in that there are endless similar threads complaining about how hard done by men are by vicious Amazons hell-bent on emasculating the male of the species.

I guess that this trend is a result of the imminent demise of UKIP which used to be these people's hobby horse.

Called it in post #23 ;) I think once you start to consider someone's posting style and history it paints a picture which you won't see if you take particular posts and threads in isolation.
