The fact you agreed £100 then he turns up bartering would have annoyed me already, I don't think I'd be in the mood for a return and/or corresponding with him further after I told him he broke it. The goods were his the instant you accepted the money and he took it off your premises.
I'm in full agreement with you here. I wasn't happy when after looking the machine over in my home he then started bartering. It was well looked after and looked great and worked great 3 days ago.
He's already got £20 refund as far as I'm concerned and needs to take responsibility that he should never have attempted to take it in the snow.
When it left my possession into his it was fully working I'm 100% confident of this.
I would take it back, refund, dry it out, get it working then sell for £100
What if it doesn't work? Then because of his stupidity I'm down £100 plus all my time/effort and now I have a broken machine I need to get rid of.
I don't want it back especially now that it's broken.
Had it been dry and he took it into the vehicle then messaged me saying that it didn't work then I would take it back for a full refund but that isn't the case.
If I bought a TV from you, dragged it through 2 feet of snow for 30 metres then complained it didn't work would you do the same?
I'm going to cut off contact. If he keeps messaging I'll make a report to the police of harassment. If he turns up I'll make a note of car registration. That way I'm covered.
