Anti-semitic is a bit of a push, no?

No, it really isn't. The protest was about corbyn, and his enabling behaviour towards antisemitism. Its only an anti corbyn protest because corbyn has, again being generous, ignored antisemitism among his supporters and his associates.

Stop the conspiracy nonsense.

It was a very obvious and wooden attempt to smear corbyn and labour. Labour does not actively support or encourage antisemitism and it is just being used as a political tool to try to damage labour in the run up to the local elections. The problem is it has backfired badly on all involved as the jewish Community is now having very serious discussions amongst its self over this from a wide variety of views that exist within it.

Is this a parody?

No it is a very grave situation, please take it seriously.

Do you think the Labour leader is just blind to anti-Semitism then?

Or are you saying that none of the situations raised have actually contained any anti-Semitism at all?

I'm trying to reconcile your apparently sincerely presented view with the reality of the facts that even the Labour leader acknowledges in his statements.

you should try reading some of the peices written by David Collier (I think Dolph linked to it in a different thread), especially the one regaurding the Palestine Live 'Secret' Facebook group, those are the circles Corbyn is associated with, maybe it might change your mind.

Indeed I did.

The Labour Party: Where do we go from here?

The defence again was essentially that corbyn hasn't seen it in any of the posts, even ones he liked, responded to or was tagged in. Hence my generous reading that Jeremy is blind to anti-Semitism in ways he isn't to other forms of racism.

It's not a smear to report on things that actually happened, especially where racial discrimination and abuse, and our political representatives, are involved.

Labour clearly doesn't encourage nor support anti-semitism. They also don't appear to do anything about anti-semitism, it's just brushed under the carpet as another attempt to smear Corbyn.

Corbyn appears to be a nice enough guy, some good ideas, some bad ideas, but he's terrible at being a leader. That isn't surprising, he's had no real experience, there's nothing wrong with having to learn how to do something as you go. But he seems to be learning very slowly, particularly that there comes a time when words aren't good enough and concrete action needs to be taken.

Labour's disputes panel chair resigns over antisemitism case

Only elected in January, but the thing is, her tolerance to antisemitism was well known when she was put in place compared to the person corbyns supporters ousted.

Draining the swamp of these views is going to take a long time given how embedded they have become over the last couple of years.

A case of hear no evil see no evil.

As much as I dislike Corbyn I personally don't think he is anti-semitic but I do believe that many of his followers and supports do hold anti-semitic views. The election of Corbyn seems to have given people on the left a license to be more open with their views (similar to the rise of anti migrants views from far right groups post Brexit). To say Labour doesn't have a problem though is just foolish, antisemitism is major issue within the left wing of politics these days and the fact that Ken Livingstone is still a member of the Labour party just shows how many in the party feel about it.

If Corbyn was a bit more politician savvy he could have turned this whole antisemitism thing to his advantage had he taken decisive action sooner, now he looks like he's covering for his friends all the while Theresa May had just shown of her leadership skills by getting 22 countries to standby the UK over the whole Russia thing (yet another political topic that Corbyn had made him self look foolish on).

This is getting pathetic now:

Labour has sought to distance itself from a series of pro-Jeremy Corbyn Facebook groups that feature anti-Semitic, racist and abusive comments.

A report published in the Sunday Times claims to have uncovered more than 2,000 such messages, including misogynistic and violent posts.

Among the messages was praise for Adolf Hitler and threats to kill Prime Minister Theresa May, the paper said.

A Labour spokesman said the groups are not connected to the party in any way.

Random posts on Facebook are hardly a good measure of "labour supporters views"

Literally every unofficial group about anyone has hateful crap posted all the time. Even the official groups have vile stuff on there. I'm talking about official Conservative/labour/trump...anything really.

I don't 'like' any of those groups on Facebook but the feeds come up still. A friend of mine 'likes' the official conservative party group for instance so I can see all the crap on there.

The other week on Sadiq Khan's official Facebook loads of people were calling for the mayor of London to be "shipped back to his own country"

He was born in tooting!

Anyone who takes any "group" on Facebook seriously or representative needs their noggin checking.

Well so far it's been all words and no action, combined with more antisemitism in the form of conspiracy theories that this is not about racism but Jeremy corbyn.

At least it helps identify people's real views.

Edited for noobishness lack of caffiene
