Good lease deals on less than great cars

I've just taken delivery of our second lease car today for my wife, its a Tiguan R Line DSG 190 4Motion standard spec, paid £2k deposit and £283 a month on a 3 year 24k deal, so £12,188 over the 3 years, less whatever 3 years tax was? I honestly don't think leasing is a bad thing, the car has a RRP of about £38k so after 3 years my guess best bet would be £18-20k (if anywhere near that) trade in which means its better deal than buying
Sounds a good deal to me

That particular Tiguan is £31,037 on Broadspeed, from about £37k RRP.

Even so, if you put £2k down on a PCP and financed the rest (about 10k?) the 5.3% finance currently on offer would make your total payments considerably higher than the £12k he is paying over 3 years

It depends what the car was worth at the end of that term though. If there was a real world £2-3k in the car over the GFV then it would likely work out favourably. 5.3% on 29k over 3 years would be around £2300 in interest.

Still close mind and can see why you might go for the lease.

Pretty sure there used to be another thread for great cars but there aren't any decent lease deals now sadly. There was a good alfa 4C deal a while back mind. BMW are trying to shift a few M4s, PCP but at 0% with decent contributions. Mega tempted to get one but a little bit rich for my blood!

I have an octavia VRS 245 on order, 2400 down and 125 per month for 10k. Pretty nice deal but been on order months now and no sign :(

I do like how an A8 is in a thread titled ‘less than great cars’, I think some peoples' expectations and perception of reality are perhaps a little skewed.
For a long time this thread has been a place to discuss all matters regarding leasing. Titles on this forum are just a starting point. :D
^ Yep

IIRC there originally was a thread about leasing 'great cars' such as Ferraris, Lambos etc, and this was started just after.

With Ferraris and Lamborghinis as the great car benchmark, there's not a car mentioned in this thread that doesn't come under the 'less than' banner!

I had an operation to fit a fistula in my left arm today, in preparation for dialysis. I think it may have become a big factor in helping choose my next car, if I can even drive again. A manual is definitely now out of the question.

Any good deals on at the moment? I need something to be delivered quickly and I’ll be doing 400 miles a week so would probably need 20k mileage.

I doubt that'll come to fruition, if you haven't heard yet, I doubt you will.

They've already announced that there's a new model year vRS about to appear in the summer, 245bhp as standard now, few new options available too (digital dash, interior lighting).

You'll get it, mine is due to be built next week and I placed the order in October. Mine is a DSG hatch in red without any other options.

I have raised a case with Skoda customer services due to the delay and they are covering my costs. The dealership have been awful and I haven't heard from them since the day I placed my order.

Do you have an order number? You can ask for an update on the Skoda live chat.

There's a lengthy discussion on GAP in the Leasing Deals thread on Piston Heads, you might find something useful in there.
As Chri5 says, there’s a discussion on PH with two opposing camps, one is just pay it as it’s not a massive amount of money in the grand scheme of the lease, the other is that having insurance should not leave anyone in a worse position so should cover any loss.

I haven’t bothered on any of the 3 leases I’ve had, theres two tisks I think with not having it,

1. Having the argument with the lease company and insurance about written off value and remaining lease period.

2. You would lose the initial payment, document fee, processing fee etc and would have to potentially stump them all up again before the expected end of lease.

Thanks will try this! What costs are they covering? Which dealership were you with? Mine have been very responsive but have no useful info
