Road Cycling

Usually you get oil with a new bike..

I only have one really bad photo of it built up, will get a proper one later. Think i'm challenging you for most bikes now. Up to 6 :S

A Local (to me) wheelbuilder posted a 950g wheelset on Instagram today...

Wow, the Tune Mag 170/180 hubs or Enve Carbons are my guess with a carbon tubular rim, an Enve 25, Zipp 202 or Dura ace c24.

Any alloy rim would weigh 360-400g so push you over 1kg.

It's here!!!

Got a phone call this afternoon saying that my Bianchi Oltre XR3 Disc had arrived early. Just got back from picking it up and it's absolutely beautiful. <3 It's not the lightest bike in the world, but it's not too hefty at 7.9kg (according to my digital luggage scales). A new bar/stem combo can easily shave that down by 2-300 grams.

Haven't ridden it yet as I need to get some pedals. I was hoping my Vector 3s would have arrived, but will pick up a cheap pair tomorrow to tide me over. Can't wait until Thursday, my cycling club has an outdoor track reserved for a couple of hours so I can put it through it's paces then :D

Bianchi's look great, espicially in the ubiquitous Celeste. I'm sure some of us would love a picture of it when you get chance!

3/4 races do tend to be a bit wait for the sprint, especially crits. The odd attack, but mostly just people gassing themselves and never getting anywhere unless they are a cut above. 2nd cat racers on the whole tend to be a little more tactical I'd agree. People have the legs to get away with well timed attacks and the team element adds another dimension. Breakaways do have more chance to get away if well represented. it's generally just a lot more enjoyable than low category racing.

Yeah, most 3/4 races are a bunch sprint and crash fest here.

I'm happy where I'm at for the time of year and the bike I'm on just want to get the power higher!

Still 'fat' compared to some of the guys out there. One chap is 62kg and did 307w for 1.5 hours in a turbo session he showed me.

Sounds like xdcx! Although he seems to have disappeared!

Everything I hear about 3/4 circuit races is the same, lumpy road races are the only place those sort of races seem to have any variability/toughness. Everyone is so desperate to get out of 3/4 it's all for themselves, whereas 2 upwards people are working together more regularly it seems.
