I don't believe it's all down to irrational fear or hatred but simply culture clash, these sorts of conflicts arise from the interaction of people with different cultural values.scared because it is something unknown, which is exactly what a phobia is.
I tired this earlier, I was told to "google it" and "educate myself" also "why should I spends time researching this", never did see any prrof or links to parts of the Koran that said anything like this. Just passive aggressive posts and insults.
What does The Quran say about the burqa?
First of all it depends upon who you ask. There is disagreement in Islamic circles as to what extent Quran advocates the wearing of the burqa. However, The Quran does not specifically mention the burqa or tell women to wear such extremely confining clothes. Instead, it instructs men and women to dress and behave modestly in society (24:31), which the Ulama or “Scholars” do agree upon. Modern day Muslims base their authority regarding the burqa on the hadith or collected traditions of life in the days of prophet Muhammad. It is important to note here that these “collected traditions” have no place in Islam, (please see relevant articles on this site). Most followers of these traditions know little of their origins or authenticity.
It still boils down to some Islamic scholars asserting that "dress modestly" means "cover completely". Regardless, these women are still complying with a directive (mis-)interpreted from the Quran, despite this fallacious notion of "personal choice".I can find it here in 2 minutes:

A quote from that page:
So, have a read, and see what you think.

The Quran itself doesn't even state that women can't be imams, believe it or not.
Granted, but the Quran still instructs women to dress modestly, which is being (mis-)interpreted by some as full coverage. The page seems to specifically state that the only body parts(s) specifically expected to be covered are the breasts/cleavage and hair. Everything else is a cultural tradition/interpretation. Not a religious decree.

[citation needed]Apparently no more than 200 people wear the burka in the UK.

No chance, ridiculous number. It’s in the thousands.Apparently no more than 200 people wear the burka in the UK.
Only 200 people would mean most people never see someone in one. It's a LOT higher than that.
Are you perhaps confusing the Burka with the Niqab?
