Boris and the burka

I am glad Boris said what he said in the way he said it! No mixing words. No cowering to other peoples so called 'laws'. At least everybody knows where they stand with him.

No. He says utter trash and when it comes down to the hard stuff, he runs away like the coward that he is. Just like the Conservative party; a bunch of cowards full of broken promises.

In a more related way as to what he said. He's just looking for attention imo. He's all mouth and full of himself, trying to gain points from gullible people.

I can imagine how Corbynians applauded Boris when he said he didn't agree with the burka ban in Denmark but when he made an innocent joke about it all commies went crazy.

Boris has made similar remarks to upset the many. He's a thicko and needs to be lost and not found. I don't trust any MP or party for that matter. Their best interests are their own.

Spend 5 mins in Green street in London and you'll see that's BS
I’ve spent significantly more than 5 mins in green st, dewsbury, bury park(Luton), various parts of brum etc etc and the full face veil is worn by very very few women, so the right are really getting their knickers in a twist over a minuscule amount of women.

I'm not long back from Asda and there were a family of folk stood beside the doorway as I entered, two of which were wearing niqabs.

I briefly thought about asking if I could take a selfy with them but sanity prevailed (thankfully) and I just walked in.

"Do you like Hovis?" :D

Frequently in London all over the place. NEVER seen a Burka, but do sometimes see the Niqab.. Mostly it's usually just a head scarf.

The further you get from Mecca, the more extreme they are. Get yourself up north and you'll see plenty. Nelson, Burnley, Bradford....all the **** holes.

Lol. :D

They were having a bit of a to-do, I think one of the kids was misbehaving. It seemed like normal family shizzle, just in a different language. (edit: i.e. not Welsh or English, cos I live oop in north-west Wales, yawn boi? :))

Free speech isn't freedom from responsibility he is allowed to say what he wishes and express any opinion but as a public figure who has expressed an interest in leading our country should he do it in a manner which upsets he should be man enough to apologise. Nobody expects him to retract his column but apologising for his choice of words and comparisons is appropriate in the circumstances and would allow him to be the better person.

He's not actually said anything bad, the way the media and permanently offended lefties have reacted you would have thought he'd said to throw all Nijab/Burkha wearers on a bonfire, all he did was joke about the appearance whilst making a serious point and the majority of the country will have laughed in agreement. There is little point in having free speech if every time you say something that isn't 'politically correct' you get harrassed by the media and establishment lefties to the point of having to apologise before you're allowed to have a normal life again.

The left have basically ignored the majority of what he said to bring about serious discussion and focussed all of their resources on attacking him for the letterbox comment.

His two comparisons were inappropriate jokes or not and undermined his whole piece had he not made them this situation would not exist.

some of the reaction on social media is quite amusing, for example the "top comment" on this LBC article:

Lol. :D

I reckon "when we're all friends", they will actually find that funny too.

Edit:

Most. There are always a few grumpy *****.

Doesn't this kind of crass behaviour, his preceeding behaviour as foreign minister , writing these kind of columns for newspapers, preclude him from ever becoming prime minister ?
what respect remains from his colleagues and constituency.
plagiarizing Lou Reed Stick a fork in his a** turn him over, he's done

Trump got lucky, despite reality show bafoonery origins, but fortunately helped by the Russians (facebook, ...) - but lightening does not strike twice.

Is there really that much difference between a Burka and a Niqab? If you're running a petrol station at night, are there rules that say you can't admit people wearing balaclavas or crash helmets, but you can let people in wearing Niqabs? I have no idea.

Either way, covering your face is socially divisive and at worst, intimidating in western society. I don't get why there is a massive virtue signalling hardon over this whole issue. If you want to fit in, then I'd say you'll earn massive respect by following in the footsteps of the brave Iranian women by dumping face veils/coverings.

I'm pretty easy going but I'll admit that I do a bit of a double take when I see women fully covered from head to toe when walking in Islington. it just seems odd. Maybe that makes me a horrible racist or something in someone's eyes but it still doesn't sit right with me. I feel like they are people that I cannot engage with because they are wilfully isolating themselves from the rest of society. On the flip side I work with several people who wear the hijab and I have no issue with that whatsoever.
