Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I can't really believe a 2080 would really be faster than a Titan V, but we have benches pointing towards it:

Raster means rasterization. Just ATAA is raytracing. A Quadro RTX6000 ist 50% faster than a TV. So a new 50% faster Titan should come in the next months. As the big chip usually is 40-45% faster than the small chip, it would point to a 2080 at ~TV speed.

Probably just a special case, but even if a 2080 reaches a TV in some games, it would be great.

they cant price them too high... the biggest market is the mainstream market ( around £300-£400 ) a lot of mainsteam buyers can be tempted to up to £500-£550 if the product is worth it but if they start selling at £650 then people will buy old stock and AMD and they will struggle ( Ti Versions of course are soley aimed at enthusiasts so different market )

The mainstream is likely to be in the £200 to £300 region, maybe somebody from overclockers can confirm.

1080? That's some price increase! ;)

But yes, it doesn't bode well. You'd be looking at £500-550 for the 2070 which is far, far in excess of what it should be.

Dark times potentially :(

I think so too. With the 1160 being £330 or more.

The 1080 (Asus variant) being up to £850 or so.

Essentially every card gets moved up a price tier (again).

The true mainstream buyers - £150 to £275 or so - they get an 1140/1150 and they get to like it :p

Incoming 1̶9̶2̶-̶b̶i̶t̶ 128-bit bus 2060 card priced at £260~£300 and 2060 with half memory (and reduced core counts) at £200 for the poor mainstream gamers...tada :D

When AMD eventually bring out something to compete, THEN then would bring out a 192-bit bus card calling it a 2060ti or something along that line :p

Yes we have several 1060's in the price range, that is where they shall remain and 1050Ti, 1060 and 1070 is Mainstream, the prices is £150 (1050ti) - £330 (1070) on OcUK. They are a great purchase at those prices, won't be that cheap for much longer thats for sure. Also we have 1060 6G from Zotac at £239, also a great buy. Also remember they have Destiny 2 + DLC as well, further adding to the value.

Pascal is a great buy, particular 1060 and 1070, which are mainstream gaming products.

The price here is going to be greatly effected by the pound though. I'd be surprised if the MSRP $ price is a lot more than a 1080.

In our calculations you generally need to the pound to have a strength of 1.30 to equal the dollar price ins pounds. So generally if an MSRP in USA is $99, for us to hit £99, we need a 1.30 exchange rate, due to 20% VAT and other shipping/logistic costings. If the pound is stronger than 1.30 then the price is lower, if the pound is weaker than 1.30 then its actually very hard to match the dollar price in pounds including the VAT.

Of course what everyone forgets is MSRP's in US exclude tax as all states tax differently, some even have no tax. So if a product is $100 in the US, our price is around £83 +VAT, but once you add VAT your back to £100, so pound/dollar parity.

Pound is the weakest its been in history for a long time and that is the UK's problem, not NVIDIA's, AMD's, Intel's etc.

When i got my 980GTX for £400 in November 2014 it was $1.60 to the £1

Forgetting everything else and just looking at the strength of the £ that would be over £500 today!!

bloody brexit! :(

When I purchased my supercharger kit for my Saleen Mustang all those years ago, the pound was over 2:1 now those were good times, when a 10k USD supercharger kit, lands in the UK and my final cost was like £5600 with HMRC taking their cut. :D

At todays rate that same kit would cost me around £11,000

Can you Gibbo, using the complicated system of emoticons, convey to us how accurate the 'leaks' about the pricing of the 20X0 range? Like the rumours the 2080 is around $500 you could use a smiley that represents you falling out of your chair laughing, wiping tears out of your eyes and having to take 5 mins to compose yourself.

Or you could, you know, just tell us ;)

He'll be under a NDA or whatever it's called, and won't be sayin' nuffink. Just keep an eye on Motors and see if he's ordering a new Lambo. ;)
